bevinator: K'Borra's reaction to you is based on your faction standing with the T'rang. Ratings go from -100 to +100, but you can't actually see them ingame. Ordinarily, your faction standing with them would be 0 or thereabouts when starting a game, but because you went with the Bela ending and started with the Umpani, your rating with them is around -90, IIRC. (Your rating with the Umpani, on the other hand, will be 80 or higher.)
In order for K'Borra to not attack you immediately, your rating needs to be at -25 or higher. You can get that by going to Nyctalinth and doing H'Jenn-Ra's first quest of talking to Shritis, and then telling Shritis you're willing to take vengeance on the Umpani. This will ensure that your faction rating with them is at least +0. Alternatively, you can hunt down D'Rang T'Rang and repeatedly bribe/truce him until he's willing to talk to you. If D'Rang will talk, then K'Borra won't attack immediately. Neither of these options are very easy at the start of the game, however.
Honestly, it's not really worth it to do K'Borra's quest anyway. K'Borra tells you that H'Jenn'Ra will give you 10,000 gold as a reward, but you never actually get anything other than faction rep. And T'Rang faction isn't really used for much.
Cheers, that's an awesome reply Bevinator. I tried to do a walk to New City from Ukphyr, I did get there..... but I was disappointed when I did get to New City I was basically steamrolling everybody due to heavy grinding on the road from Ukphyr to Munkharama?(sp?) to get pass the Komodo Dragons. So I started a new game and just straight tell Sgt. Balkhara(sp?) that I didn't see any T'rang patrol when he told me to investigate the forest and went straight to New City without too much of a fuss (with 5200 less gold though from the payment. I'll live with that :D).
Again thank you for that answer. It certainly bring light to why K'borra was so intent on beating me.
