Howdy, folks! Doing my fourth or fifth playthrough of Wizardry 8 after a long, long break.

Made it to Trynton in two separate playthroughs, but my parties have inexplicably stopped being awarded experience at levels 9 and 10. Fighting higher level enemies in the swamp does not award experience either.

Is this a soft cap that I don't remember? Is it a 'pickpocket' bug relating to that broken skill? Anyone else experience this or know of a fix? Thanks!

I don't know. Did you actually take your level ups? There may be a bug where you can only bank so many level ups before you actually have to take them. That's why I've been taking my level ups as they come.

Never felt the need to bank levels. Fights seem to award experience, but the stats on my characters never update. Presently:

Gadgie and Bard are level 10 with 512,000 experience.
Alch is level 10 with 614,400
Bishop is level 9 with 409,600
Hybrids at level 9 with 358,400

Reinstalling hasn't fixed anything. This seems like a pretty easy thing to fix, but I'm not finding any answers- or anyone else who's even encountered this problem.

I know you may not want to hear this, but try starting a new party. I'm doing an MDP (Magic Damage Party): Bard, Gadgeteer, Priest, Alchemist, Psionic, Mage. It's not that different from your current party. I'm at level 15, still grinding in the Monastery. I don't know anybody else who grinds as much as I do.

100% thought it was just a bug caused by the rogue in the first playthrough, but the second party I made ran into the same problem.

I think I'll pick up the Steam copy and give it one more shot. Maybe try solo faerie and see if I can run into the same problem without wasting too much time. I just find it strange that no one else ran into this problem before.
