There is too little info (at least in English) about the game mechanics. I have never seen anyone show awesome stuff like Muramasa+9 or anything. I have save scummed the chests in Deep B6F many thousands times and got Muramasa+4, then Muramasa-2. Other good stuff like Gram have I also seen.

They extremely rare chest drop either way. Don't mention Cyclone Orochi+ because it and some other seem more common than Muramasa or Gram.
the Muramasa sword only has a 13% drop rate... not a sword i personally care about because by that point in the game i don't need it

Yeah Muramasa itself is pretty rare considering how rare Hatamoto is in Shin B8F, much easier in Deep B4F which is endgame for most players. Technically you can have a lot unfinished business if you skip to Deep B6F early with Control Seal which seems avoid random encounters. Possible to be there as low as 20 lvl.

Muramasa+ from chest (- is also possible which would make it worse) is much harder to get than Hatamoto and also few other endgame gear. I'm mostly interested in if there is any data about chest drops, the % droprate and all that. Perhaps Muramasa and other gear can appear in chest in the other floors? Is there rare awesome stuff in Trial B1F? I don't know.
Want to tell more about it. I'm currently rolling the static chest in Deep B6F more than 6 days playtime now (current playthrough) and only got Muramasa-2 once. I will be satisfied once I get +1 or more. I run on 3x speed with Cheat Engine and checking if it's shiny gold otherwise I "Leave" until it does. Then I check if it has "?Weapon" roll otherwise quit and reload (Start + Select + L1 + R1 on gamepad).

So it's most likely 0,01% or less drop rate. Really doubt it could be more drop rate. Running full Porklu team as well so maybe Luck helps here too.
Still no Muramasa since 11 may despite it's easy to open countless chests in Deep B6F. Got two Gram+4 by happenstance though, which I kept one.

To be honest for a long time I have more wished for Kotetsu+9 or close to it rather than Muramasa. But I don't know if it can be obtained but don't see why it shouldn't.

edit:
Based on my experience with ?Weapon loot. The rarity order seems be something like Sling > Boomerang > Shuriken > Orochi >/< Bizen Osafune > Muramasa...

I think the game might not be that popular.

I do remember playing this game, and here are some of the things I do remember:
* The training dungeon B1F, the very first area you're likely to explore, occasionally yields drops that sell for substantial amounts of money. Have a Mage or Bishop donate that money (to turn it into XP), and you can learn high level spells early; NAL Burst, in particular, it an encounter-ending spell for a while.
* Later on, to do decent damage, you absolutely must get a good weapon, and that good weapon will most likely be a katana of some sort. This makes Samurai really good, especially with that attack that hits a row.
* I remember combat being extremely deadly later on. Basically, you had to have your Bishop use that shield skill every single round (so no chance to actually use magic), and skills that require a charge-up turn (like the Fighter and Mage skills) aren't useful because the second round is too late. (With that said, I note that the Mage's skill increases the power of Cleric spells, including healing (not that it matters with there being a party-wide full heal spell) and instant death (making the spells actually work well, if you can survive that long).
* Many of these class-specifc skills would appare in other Japanese DRPGs; you see many of them in Stranger of Sword City, for example.
Cool, thanks. I already have a pretty good grasp on the game, just not much talk about the chest drops. Already wrote some in Steam forums but that's all speculation. I always wonder what the chest drop rate for Muramasa is and what floors can have in chest. I have most experience in B6F so that area is a safe bet for endgame gears such as Muramasa+ or maybe even Kotetsu+.

Also thinking about the rarest loot in Trial B1F might be something like Odin Sword or close to it. But so far none has shared that info.

I'm pretty sure it can't be more than 0,01% drop rate considering the time amount I spent on opening same chest. Maybe I just been really lucky with two Muramasa. I hope that someday someone interested will do the same thing as me and share his/her experience.

Here is few images of what I found recently. As you see that Cyclone Orochi is pretty "common" drop, I think Bizen Osafune might be slighty more rare. And you can see only 1 Muramasa drop from more than 1 week farming... What a pain I can only tell you. Consider it a miracle if you find Muramasa+ from chest naturally via enemies.

Have kinda same experience in previous playthroughs. Muramasa feels impossible loot and maybe Gram is slighty less rare.
I've always felt that the rate of Samurai weapons was way too low. Sure, they have the most power, but who wants to grind all that? Meh, I've never really liked the end-game content. I've heard the sequel is even worse, though.

At least the sequel has more character building options, including one class that makes offensive spells actually useful later in the game.

(One powerful strategy i saw in a video: Have a Sorcerer use their special ability, the one that boosts the power of a spell at the cost of defense for that round, and use it to cast instant death spells. That can work rather well on even powerful enemies.)

Incidentally, I'm most likely to lose interest in a game once I run out of both skills to learn and interesting random encounters. (One thing that classic Wizardry did well that many Japanese DRPGs don't is continuing to provide a variety of random encounters even later on.)

Case in point: The postgames of Saviors of Sapphire Wings and Stranger of Sword City don't actually introduce new normal enemies; it's just bosses and increased enemy levels.
To be honest the game is mostly about hunting loot. There is not much any other reason playing it. So it's a good fix for players who like lots lots of grind :)

Yes, I think the more powerful item = the rarer it is (chest drops included).
