I swear that I could run the pirated Windows version of 7 in full screen.

I guess we'll just consider that $6 as reimbursement for downloading the real deal years ago.

It was considered Abandoneware for a long time, but you $6 version includes many extras and a VERY handy, compatible, and convenient launcher to make configuring the game much easier. Plus, you have a VGA mode of Wizardry 6 which I don't think you can find elsewhere (could be wrong, but I never found one).

All in all, your purchase also shows that you respect the excellent and unique niche work that GOG does, and help them to stay in business which will mean they will keep supporting this fine community.

The default download for Wiz7 is the Gold version, which runs in a crappy little window. If you look in the 'Extras' section of that game, you can download the DOS version, which can run in fullscreen.

I don't get why GOG put the Gold version and the DOS version as a extra, honestly it should of been the other way around.

I'd assume you know how things can go around here. Unfortunately, sometimes the games don't work right "out of the box". I'm guessing you don't want to bother with Support?

Yeah, that's usually why I go ahead and purchase the games even though I've already snagged them during their abandoned period.

I'm starting to think that the 7 I had might've been the Japanese ISO or maybe the PSX version.

Naw, I don't think there is anything GOG can do or else they would've done it. I'm just trying to figure out what I downloaded a couple years back that gave me a more modern (and full screen) Wiz 7.

If you figure it out and it is in English, let us know!
It was probably the Sega Saturn (JP only) version. Still, check out the DOS version like I mentioned above. Once it's running usually you can make it fullscreen with alt+enter.

So far in my experiences, GOG has the hardest working support team of ANY game company, distributor or developer. They will dig WAY DEEP to find the solution. So, if something CAN be done about it, GOG will do it. But then again, it may just end up being impossible without a complete rewrite from source.
Well the OP is a dumb ass, but I hope GOG fixes the following:

-combat delay settings
-click lag meaning you'll click on something and sometimes it doesn't register at all, or sometimes it takes up to 15 seconds
Wizardry Gold was always dysfunctional. It's not an issue with how it works on modern versions of Windows and it's nothing GOG can fix. Wizardry Gold is just screwed up.

which again raises the question of: Why GOG put the dysfunctional Gold version in the main installer and the more stable DOS version as a extra, honestly it should of been the other way around.
What's dysfunctional about Wiz 7 Gold?

F-ck it, I'll Support a message about this. ;-)

Lot of bugs and oddities from the conversion, really. I'm thinking stuff like NPCs and items disappearing. Also had a lot of interface issues -- text went by too fast, the sound caused bizarre... input lag or something. And in general the new engine just felt scuzzy.

Also they redraw all the portraits and the new ones look awful.

GOG really should put up the DOS one as the main download, yeah.
