My Gadgeteer in my MDP started with 9 skill in Locks and Traps, and I've been increasing her L&T skill, both on creation, and upon level ups. She only has a modest skill in this, and there are few ways to increase it, besides inspecting a trapped chest repeatedly (which I won't do, as I consider it cheating; Also, the game I believe gives a limit on this, rightfully). The other method, which I don't believe is cheating, is to play with the tumblers in the Arnika Bank. The Gadgeteer will learn the fine art of not disturbing a tumbler, while picking another. To me, this doesn't seem like cheating, as it's a skill that has very limited chances to increase, as there are only a finite number of locked doors and trapped chests. What do others think?

You are doing exactly the same as I do.
To me, playing with the tumblers isn't cheating. What is cheating is inspecting the same trapped chest over and over again (once you have identified the trap elements, how are you going to gain any more knowledge?) Usually, the Monastery locks are 2 or 3 tumblers, and will open quickly. The Arnika bank tumblers are more challenging, and most of the time you won't unlock it on purpose. This seems like a fair play.
