I noticed that GOG is using US version of Wizardry 8. What does it matter?
Well, when you exit the game you can see a game advertisement. This advertisement is present only in non-European version.

http://wizardry.wikia.com/wiki/Wizardry_8
"During the production of Wizardry 8, its publisher, Sir-Tech, went bankrupt. The final production process was rushed, and finally Sir-Tech was forced to sell advertising space within the game itself in order to make budget. This advertising appears when exiting the game (but not in the European version)."

I have the original EU version and would be willing to share the non-advertised version to everyone. If it is ok, I'll put a link to the file.

GOG support answered to my question as follows:

Hello

Thank you for writing and for your offer, the advertisement only appears when exiting the game and we will not be removing it.
Have a nice day.

1.2.6 patch removes the advertisement: http://www.gog.com/forum/wizardry_series/is_w8_patch_126_included
GoG probably doesn't want to tamper with the game because the ad doesn't actually interfere with anything and applying unofficial patches to their official release would invite other problems. It's simple enough to get and apply the unofficial patch if the ad bothers you.
It always reminds me of that times when I played W8 for first time, so I actually like this advertisement :P

Thanks, didn't know that exists.

Yes, but it might annoy you if you have played the ad-free version like myself.

The advertisement is a part of the overall nostalgia. I like it.

Same here. It's now part of the game, for me.
I'm a fan of quality boutique system builders (Digital Storm, Origin PC, Alienware, etc.) in general and of Falcon Northwest in particular, so the ad that displays as you exit the game doesn't bother me in the slightest!

Also, if it wasn't for Falcon Northwest buying that advertising space, the game may never have been released, and we would all be referring to Crusaders of the Dark Savant or Wizardry Gold as the final game in the series.

What
Is
The
Problem?
I have a physical version of Wizardry 8 I ordered from England, with the PEGI rating and all that, and it still has the advertisement.
What grimdango said.

I've had Wiz 8 continuously installed on every computer I've owned since release. One lousy ad on exit is a BFD why?

If we removed the ad then the purists below your post would be clamoring for a return of the ad :D. I'd rather have the game preserved as-is because that was the way it came out back in the day.

If possible, I ALWAYS disable any kind of ad that annoys me after the first time I have seen it. Ok, for some of you guys this ad is part of the game, I understand that now. BUT If my version didn't have it and I don't like it, then there shouldn't be any problem. Can't you see my point of view?

I got a proper answer from singbird that should please all non-purists, so CASE CLOSED! Enjoy your crappy ad :D
"Well, when you exit the game you can see a game advertisement. This advertisement is present only in non-European version."

All I see when I exit the game is an advertisement for buying a new (well ancient now) Falcon Northwest PC. But it in no way effects the game. There is no problem here.
