I have read many places that the "drained" status (the blood drop icon) can be cured with 1) a renewal potion, or 2) by clicking the fountain in front of the temple in Arnika. I have tried clicking the fountain and it did not cure the drained status. As far as the renewal potion, I can not find it for sale anywhere. I know that they can be "made" by your alchemist, but my highest alchemy skill is 27 and I think I need a 50 or higher to mix the two ingredients for the renewal potion. I have four characters with this status after a fight in Mt. Gigas caves (I entered at level 13-14 so I assume it generates tougher monsters at that level). I am afraid to level up and lose their hit points, which seem to continue to shrink. Can anyone help me fix this? Can I quickly build the necessary alchemy skill? I feel like I am completely stuck and can't advance in the game.

It's not the fountain in front of the temple, but rather the pool inside the temple. It can only be used a couple of times, though (or even only once?), so if you already used it to heal your characters, then that's not an option anymore. IIRC, the pool in the lower monastery in the room with the coffins can cure drained HP as well, but I'm not sure about that. It has limited charges as well.

Thanks so much for the advice. That fountain worked. Unfortunately when I returned to Mt Gigas, a character was drained again. I am trying to build my alchemy skill so that I can make that potion because this status so far seems to be the worst in the game besides death, and even death is easily cured as resurrection cures are readily available.

FYI the fountain in upper mt Gigas also cures draining...
