There are two facts regarding Wizardry that appear to be contradictory.

1. Vi Domina (Wizardry 7 and 8) is clearly Good. (The Dark Savant is obviously Evil, and Vi Domina doesn't like the Dark Savant.) Furthermore, she is a Valkyrie (this fact is established in Wizardry 8 where she can join your party, and her class is Valkyrie).

2. In Japanese Wizardry spinoffs (Wizardry Gaiden 3 being the first example; Elminage Gothic if you want one actually officially released in English), Valkyries can only be Neutral. They can't be Good (or Evil for that matter).

From this, we can conclude one of the following:
1. Vi Domina's alignment changed after she became a Valkyrie (spending 7 *years* with the Dark Savant would do that to you), except that your alignment can only change between Good and Evil from random friendly encounters.
2. Vi Domina became a Valkyrie by some unusual means (like perhaps invoking the Coin of Power (Valkyrie isn't one of the classes that it can change you into, but the game that had Coins of Power didn't even *have* the Valkyrie class to being with)).
3. The spinoffs are not canon. This seems to be the most likely option. (Have the people in charge of Wizardry 7 and 8 played any of the spinoffs? I wouldn't be surprised if the answer is no.)

By the way, I think the Valkyrie class in Wizardry Gaiden 3 is a bit too good; it learns spells as fast as a Lord, can fight as well as a Fighter or Lord (with even a little extra equipment options, including the best spear in the game), and levels up faster than a Priest. (Meanwhile, Rangers are rather lacking in that game; they level up slowly and have limited equipment options.)
It isn't my intent to seem blunt, but it may seem that way. Perhaps you're thinking about this a little too deeply?
Otherwise, as you suggest, special circumstance could be that Vi traveled with the Dark Savant and she may have originally been a different alignment or even a different class altogether at her first run ins with the guy and changed after seeing what a slime bag the guy was. Personally I am not a Vi fan. I felt she was kind of an unnecessary addition to the stuff already going on, and felt maybe Rebecca could have had a better role than she did in the 6, 7 and 8 series. I still haven't gone through 8 completely yet, I keep going back to 6 (my personal favorite). Something about that game just hooked me in and I like it the most.

I never tried the Wizardry Gaiden games that I know of. I got a weird one for the ps3 called Wizardry Labyrinth of Lost Souls, I don't like it as much now as I enjoyed like let's say Wizardry 5 for the super nintendo. Had I played it when I was 15 or 16 like I was when I saw Wizardry 5 Heart of the Malestrom on SNES I'd probably have a little better time enjoying it than I do. I beat it, but it just didn't grip me in a meaningful way. Anyhow, I hope my rambling doesn't take us too far off course from op.

She is a special case... in fact her whole line is made by a certain god who kindo' proves a change from good to evil is possible mate.

Changing from good to evil was possible all the way back in Wizardry 1; just attack peaceful wandering monsters. It's changing from/to neutral that's normally impossible.

Actually, I can think of a couple Wizardries where changing to/from neutral is possible. One is Wizardry 4, which plays very differently from the rest of the series, in which the alignment changes are from certain dungeon events. The other one is Wizardry Gaiden 4 (another Japanese Wizardry spinoff), where casting Ihalon (now a Psionic spell) on a character with maxed stats and age <= 19 will randomly change the character's alignment (if my reading of a Google Translated Japanese website is correct).
