Anyone know how to get the cinematics in Witchaven 1/2 working when playing through BuildGDX? They simply don't play (and yes I've got cutscenes set to yes in the options).

Cutscenes work for me with WH1 in BuildGDX, I've put every required file in a single folder with no subfolders within the BuildGDX folder:

[BuildGDX folder]\GRP\WH1
and
[BuildGDX folder]\\GRP\WH2

Just so I can browse easily from the launcher.

In Witchaven 1, there is only the INTRO.SMK file, to see the intro, do not skip the Capstone logo as it's part of the intro.
The ending is a simple text screen.

For Witchaven 2, you need to copy the SMK files from the SMK and VICTORY folders the root of your BuildGDX WH2 folder. You can find those by mounting the witch2.iso found in the either "Original" or "Enhanced" folder of your GOG installation of WH2.
You can do the same with WH1 to get the cutscene file if it's not already installed (I can't remember I made my custom BuildGDX folder from the original CD -I still own both games in CD format, but I lost the big boxes unfortunately, years before it was re-released here), the image is called witch.iso.
Just tested and it works.

Hey!

I wanted to add that is does not matter where you have Witchaven 1 and 2 installed, as long as BuildGDX is pointed to the correct directory!

I have both Witchaven 1 and 2 installed in the normal GOG/Games directory, and BuildGDX in a seperate directory on drive C:. I used Daemon Tools to mount the Witchaven ISO's, then copied the correct SMK files directly into the /enhanced version of the Witchaven main game folders.

I downloaded the resolution upscale packs available on ModDB, and put the files in the autoload folder inside the same directories. Then I configured GOG Galaxy to launch Witchaven 1 & 2 directly to Build GDX..... configured my controller in game, and BAM!

I LOVE these games! With BuildGDX, the 4x rez, and controller support.... it is just golden..

Did you use Galaxy to add controller support to BuildGDX? Because For all I know, GDX's controller support is abysmal.

I used the GDX controller support, it seemed to work fine in both games.

Does Galaxy have controller support??? I have never seen it... I have always just left Steam running in the background and make desktop controller layouts for my GOG games. As a matter of fact I'm doing a play through of Temple Of Elemental Evil right now launching Temple + / Circle of Nine from Galaxy so it tracks my time and cloud saves while playing on the sofa useing Steam desktop controller.

Oh okay so it's actually Steam that manages controller support, thanks for the heads-up.
