Wing Commander II seems to run much faster than I remember. Is it possible to slow the game down?

1. Look for the dosbox.conf file in your Wing Com 2 directory.
2. Open dosbox.conf with notepad or another text file editor.
3. look for the [cpu] section
4. Play around with the right "cycles=XXXX" where X is a number. Try 5000 or 6000 first.

You can also head over wcnews.com to get more help there. Happy gaming

You can also alter the cycles in real time by using ctrl+f11 to decrease the cycles and ctrl+f12 to increase the cpu cycles.

You can also use alt+enter to switch from fullscreen to a window and back. It will then display the number of cycles at the top.

You will probably find that at certain points in the games you will have to keep increasing and decreasing the cycles when a lot of enemies or asteroids are on the screen it's a problem with both games when using the dosbox versions.

I've found that 5300 cycles is the best balance you can get. It might run a little quick with only 1 or 2 objects on screen, but with a full nav point it will play at normal speed.
I can't find a CPU setting I'm happy with 5000 cycles worked pretty good for the first two missions. But now when I have to defend the concordia if I look away from her the game runs super fast but if I look at the concordia the game is really jerky.

Hope I can get this ironed out....
I changed the core to dynamic from auto and that seemed to help a bit as well. I am suing 5500 cycles on auto and it is ok. Not great but ok.
Wing Commander 2 actually has it's own options to slow down :)

for this game I recommend setting the Cycles to 6000 (roughly a 386DX33 machine)

I think with CTRL + and I or ALT + and - can you change the frame delay and how many frames are played.
