I have the DVD version, but I would buy it again here on GOG. The video on it is far superior to the CD version. I sometimes select all of the VOB files and watch them in order on a DVD player program. I have played the game so many times at this point that now I mostly just enjoy watching the clips every 2-3 years instead. :-)
I am big fan of the WC games, I would live to see all of them come to GOG!
It would be a buy either way but consider this signed!
How good is the video? I already have the PS1 version which is pretty good quality. I'm not sure I'd buy the game again.

The video quality on the dual sided DVD version was specifically made to run with a hardware decoder board bundled with a DVD-ROM sold by creative. At the time, CPUs were not powerful enough to decode the video with software - so the game was made to render the audio and video with the PCI decoder board. This is why this version of the game is so rare and relished by the wing commander community. With modern machines, folks have written software programs that will actually render the video/audio - but I never had much luck getting this to run past Windows XP.

To my knowledge, this version has the best video (and audio) quality of any of the ports of the game - full 480P video and 5.1 surround sound. I can attest after running the video through my PS3 (copied the .VOB files off the game disk and burned directly to a DVD - so no re-coding or compression) that the video and audio quality are amazing and even better when run on an HDTV will full theater surround sound.
