running win 7 with a Thrustmaster t16000m, the joystick is seen and works but under wc4 nothing, ctrl J turns on to joystick but still nothing and alt O brings up the panel, I select koystick and still not working but goback into the panel and joystick is not selected, no matter how many times i do this it seems to not remember, any ideas

Try this: enter joy.cpl in the searchbar, then click advanced, then select the t16000m as the preferred device.

Run joy.cpl, in the window that opens click on advance.

In the search bar for the start menu type joy.cpl, there should be a file with that name.
Click on it: there should appear a window with a list of gaming peripherals, under the list there are two buttons: advanced and properties.
