I've read through loads of joystick issue threads and haven't had any luck getting my Logitech Extreme 3D Pro to work with Wing Commander 3. It works fine with WC Privateer right out of the box.

The issue I'm having is when I configure it, the joystick doesn't really show centered and it flickers all over the place. When I load the game I can't control the cursor at all, it's all extremes or just shoots off to one corner.

In the configuration settings screen (before launching the game) it just flickers all over the place.

I've installed the profiler and tried setting the deadzones and senstitivity. Even with 99% deadzone it still flickers, despite barely letting me set directions.

I've tried altering the settings in dosbox, including

- Trying every combination of joystick options
- Disabling ems
- Playing around with the cycles numbers

I've tested the joystick on other games and in the windows settings as well as it works fine everywhere else.

I don't have any other USB controllers connected to my PC (just mouse keyboard and headphones).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the joystick settings of the .conf file try editing timed = false.

I have exactly the same problem. My joystick is an older Thrustmaster Top Gun USB. It works just fine with other programs and calibrates perfectly fine in the Windows 11 utility, but when I try to calibrate it with WC3, I get a dot in the centre of the crosshairs but it flickers around the grid and makes the joystick unusable. I have no other USB items plugged into my computer other than my mouse, and I have tried setting timed = false in the config file.

You have to move the joystick around in order to calibrate it.
Have you tried that?
