Yeah, there's no lingering rights issue here--the compiled games themselves are absolutely owned by Electronic Arts.

Some individual PARTS of the early games aren't, because Origin did a lot of work-for-hire with interesting contracts that have long since been lost. (This is why The Fatman can put out a CD of Wing Commander music; his contract with Origin for the first game specifies that he retains ownership of the music and can reuse it in a non-gaming setting.)
I have the secret missions on diskettes (I have still the box they came from: Wing Commander Deluxe edition). Can I just copy/paste the files in the GOG directory? I assume the normal installation process used on DOS machines will not work here.
I'm fairly certain if you have the DOS version of Secret Missions 1, you can put the files in the WC1 directory that the GOG installation created and it should work. SM2, SO1, and SO2 are actually separate executables, so you'd have to run them separately in dosbox in order to run them. That shouldn't be an issue - the issue is going to be how to transfer your pilots between the games. The easiest solution is to just mount the C drive in dosbox as the directory that GOG installed the game into. That way, when the transfer program asks where your pilot is located, its easy to point the game to the folder in the GOG directory.

thornton_s: Its the dosbox versions of WC1 & 2. There are no addons for either game. I think the speech pack is included with WC2 as there are several speech files in the folder and it has been mentioned that there is speech in the game intro.
The Speech Pack included spoken fighter dialogue from your wingman. Can you hear your wingman talk during a mission?
A year ago yall were talking about getting the expansions... guess that flew out the window

I second this!

This is not usual costumer treatment for GOG.

After hearing about Star Citizen I wanted to play all the WC games in order, but it seems the GOG version is incomplete :(
I'm still extremely upset we have no expansions after a year or so. EA is evil and it's no wonder Chris left them because they've proven to be a worthless garbage company so far.
Well, when it comes to EA, you best go in with no expectations at all. Otherwise, they will manage to disappoint.
This may help. The extra missions were available as downloads for the Kilrathi Saga. I have no idea offhand if these will work with the GOG versions, but for anyone who wants to try, here you go :

It will not! GOG offers DOS version while above EA link is for "Kilrathi Saga" version (for MS Windows). Sorry...
Did you try and confirm that though? The data (outside the .exe format) would likely remain the same.

Edit : Confirmed. All .exe's are Win only, sadly.

Gabelvampir: Hey,
What exactly is in the Pack? From the flavor text I figure that WC1 Secret Missions 1+2 are included. What about the WC2 Special Operations 1+2 addons? And what about the WC2 Speec Pack?
Thanks in advance

I understand this is an old post but I must report that GOG does have the expansions for both games, just no short cuts
get a stand alone version of DOS BOX and do this:
mount c c:\goggam~1\wingco~1\wc2
then type: so1.exe(it is in the directory) for Special Ops 1 and so2 for special ops2 if it doesn't respond, type Dir sometimes it won't show up in the directory, just exit DOSBox and try again.
for Wing Commander 1 it is in the game menu. The expansions for both games are indeed now present in the GOG version as of september 2013.
Hope this helps people!

There are shortcuts actually. Look in the start button, all program files under GOG menu.

no shortcuts for me, only to the main game Wing Commander 2. have to use the method I described and make my own.
That's weird, I see three links. Special Ops 1, Special Ops 2, and the main game.
