Seems like there are alot of bugs and little bits a pieces that need ironing out at the moment with WC4..

For Example whenever I attempt to open the game I just get error messages about what I can only guess as Missing Movie files.
But they all seem to be there under the Directory Folder Marked as vob

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Try using Windows 95 compatibility mode with the game shortcut maybe? I was having a crash on startup and found that tip in a thread here, worked great for me.
Already tried that, and it's done nothing, even gone as far as to replace DLL files in an attempt to straighten it out, 3 reinstalls and still nothing sadly :(
I'm having this problem too, only the error message doesn't indicate what the problem might be. I sent a message to support but I have no idea if it even got through.

when I try to launch WCIV, it gives me a blck screen and freezes. I've changed compatibility settings and run as an admin with no difference. nothing works.
Any idea on how to change the resolution? Because now I have 2 black sidebars :( the movies are full screen though.

download & install
mpeg2dec.zip
AC3Filter

EDIT: But I get screen flippering in missions.
EDIT2: To solve this I switched to 16bit colour.

Kinda buggy release.

Thanks for the advice, but these did nothing on my machine, just the same two seconds of black, followed by an error message.

By the way, can anyone tell me how to tell when a GOG game has been updated? I haven't been able to find any information, thanks.

I had the same issue. I was able to resolve it by killing my Firewall and AV software.

I did the same and the game started. Then I re-enabled them and the game still works.
Looks like something it needs to do at the first run.
The firewall didn't log a try to connect, so maybe it was the antivirus.
For me the game froze after about a second of the intro movie (the Dolby part), but all I had to do was install AC3filter. Now it runs perfectly. So I'd suggest uninstalling all filters/codecs and only installing AC3filter if you have problem with the DVD video.

I tried changing dxmci.dll btw, but that gave me an error message about video not found.
So far I have tried everything in this post and NOTHING has worked. this "game" brings up a black screen and nothing ever come up. I've replaced DLLs, tried all the different CODECs, tried all the different combinations of compatibility mode and running as administrator. Killed the AV and uninstalled it. uninstalled Malware bytes... NOTHING helps.

I emailed GOG tech support and they've ignored me.

this is a bad experience to top them all.
I have the same problem. I hope GOG to do something about it.
