Venchant: wc3joy.dll dated 12/8./1994, 4608 bytes. Wow, has it really been 20 years?
11/8/2013 - No, no it hasn't. ;)

Koranis: It seems that w3joy.zip is not available anymore.

Is there an alternative mirror? I cannot find any myself.

Venchant: Available at GameFront.

No, it's not available. If you click on download it gives "page not found" error.

I just tried it and it downloaded fine for me.

I have mirrored the file on PCGamingWiki.

Game Front downloads are region-locked (yes, really); users outside supported countries see a generic failure error.
Arkose, thank you for this! My first 100 kills with the controller are in your name. :)

Did not know that. Just looked and Italy isn't a supported country? Never would have thought.
Fix Joystick issue This works for my xbox 360 controller on windows 7 64bit

1: Download wc3joy from http://speedy.sh/CnUqj/wc3joy.zip

2: unrar and place file in (C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Wing Commander 3\WC3)

3: in the file (dosboxWC3) located in (C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Wing Commander 3) Change

In the [CPU]

Cycles from max to 100000

In the [joystick]

joysticktype=auto to joysticktype=4axis
timed=true to timed=false

In the [dos]

ems=true to ems=false

Right at the bottom change

[autoexec]
@echo off
mount C "."
imgmount D ".\DATA.DAT" -t iso
d:
cls
wc3.exe
exit

To this:

[autoexec]
@echo off
mount C "."
imgmount D ".\DATA.DAT" -t iso
d:
cls
wc3.exe -i
exit

4: Then save and run the game. You should go into a setup for graphics sound ect. The reason I've done it this way is, it's a good way of setting up the joystick before you even get into the game. Once you have done all the setup go back into (dosboxWC3) file and change

[autoexec]
@echo off
mount C "."
imgmount D ".\DATA.DAT" -t iso
d:
cls
wc3.exe -i
exit

to this:

[autoexec]
@echo off
mount C "."
imgmount D ".\DATA.DAT" -t iso
d:
cls
wc3.exe
exit

and save.

Once again thanks Zorathros for all the help and information :)

I've added the DLL, calibrated, and the swinging around and shooting works fine, however I don't know how to configure the individual controls like thrust and afterburner and whatnot.

Any ideas?
Have you tried using Xpadder or Pinnacle Game Profiler.

Whassat? Does it work with the DLL file/Dosbox?
I tried all from the above, but with my saitek x45 nothing seems to work.
Stays dead during calibrationscreen. :(
Hello. I've tried to play with xbox360 controller via Xpadder and some tweaks from nearest guid, but got strange bug with poorly respondable "up" command. On keyboard too, it's like craft is hitting some obstacle and can't pitch anymore, until you move it in other directions. Makes dogfight quite frustrating.

So I tried to remap left stick from "arrow" keys to normal joystick routine, but it just won't work. It captures at calibrating, I see numbers at bottom of the screen changes in logical fashion, but in game it simply doesn't work. All other controlls are still works perfectly tho.

I tried solution from this theme, but with no luck.

EDIT: I'm a moron who don't know how to properly calibrate joystick, problem solved.
