HowLongToBeat.com doesn't have an entry for WC2. I have 3 and 4 but I haven't started them yet... I am wondering if I should pick up 1 & 2 first? I mostly would want the early ones for the story and would hate to get bogged down in the very beginning of the series before getting to the ones I really wanted to play.

HLTB has WC1 at something around 6.5-8h which seems like a good length. Is WC2 in the same ballpark?

Sounds about right. Approx. 8 hours for the main game, plus another 3-4 hours each for the mission discs.

While those estimates sound about right, do keep in mind that WC 1 and 2 both have pretty inconsistent difficulty. You'll often breeze through 6 missions in a row on the first try, then hit a real stumper that you have to retry a dozen times before finally progressing. This can induce some rage quits which drag out your completion time. They're both very good games however.
