Is there any possibility of having the Win-95 Kilrathi-Saga versions of these games in the future? The gameplay was tweaked to be smoother on faster machines & the soundtrack was rerecorded to a much better standard. Not the classic dos version of the game, but easily the most user-friendly & almost certainly the best overall experience of wc 1&2 that Origin made available. Any thoughts?
Good idea, but not only this. Original CD version of WC4 (with both DOS and Windows versions) should be included as well (as a bonus like Heroes of Might & Magic 2, which got a Windows version recently). Older version of WC4 has far less issues than the DVD version.

I would definitely like to see Kilrathi Saga added to the mix. Even if they split the games apart to the separate collections.
I'd like to see that versions here, always had an interest in them since I learned about them a bit over 10 years ago. Never saw them in store, I'm not sure if the Kiltrathi saga was published here in Germany.
Sorry for going slighty off topic, but did the Kilrathi saga include the WC1+2 addons?

Nope, but they were made available later and could be downloaded for free and they can still be downloaded from the WC CIC site.
You can actually still get the Kilrathi Saga addons from EA's own FTP server.
However, keep in mind that KS has a few bugs. For example apparently the sprites including planets, moons, and suns don't show up in KS versions of the game (don't know if anyone ever patched it), so skies appear as plain blue/black background.

The addon packs were slightly buggy in sound, IIRC, maybe missing some of the speech voiceovers. And music cutting off, after playing a while.

But its certainly the most impressive as far as improved control schemes (better joystick support) and music. Although I don't know if the joystick support still functions with modern joysticks and gamepads.

The Kilrathi Saga ports still work with modern controllers, but of course the customisation options are limited compared to more modern games.
I want this too!

It was published in Germany and I was able to buy one of the few boxes. That shop received only a couple and the owner reserved one for me. Looking at the price development of this collection, I should have kept the box. On the other hand, I will probably never sell this one.

I too, would like to see the KS upgrades to WC1 and 2 on GOG.

Cool, sounds like quite the find. I wish I did find one of these, but back in the day when I was still at school I never had money to buy games. So I couldn't have bought it back then.

Someone at the Wing Commander CIC is patching the errors in the Kilrathi Saga versions of WC1 and 2. Currently done with WC1 if I recall.

Google string: wcnews wcdx

Have fun, and encourage him to finish the rest of the patch, gently -_^
Honestly, this is a total shame that the Kilrathi Saga isn't available. Sure it has its quirks but also definite improvement. Just having the CHOICE to which version would be very nice.

I mean look at the X-Wing series : both X-Wing and TIE Fighter have their three existing versions available, DOS, CD, and Collector Series Remake.

It's a shame we don't have this choice for Wing Commander :(
I always felt the originals were superior except for audio. The best part about the Kilrathi Saga was the music and sound effects. The sound effects were updated and sounded like future games. The music was just fantastic as well.

Getting it to run in Windows 10 is just a pain. And when it does, it just goes like a bat out of hell. The originals in Dosbox are far more stable.

Absolutely not.

Copy/paste the files from https://github.com/Bekenn/wcdx/releases into the game's directory and it works flawlessly in all versions of Windows.
