Just wondering, want to play it.

I prefer to get it here, but if not available, is it compatible with dosbox, and available anywhere?

Thanks

I've bought mine boxed DOS version years ago. It's compatible with DosBox... but makes problems with multiple CDs - these 4 disc must be changed manually. AFAIK it's hardcoded and access to pure code should be required to change such behavior.

If P2 will be available on GOG I hope it will contain HQ movie (without interlacing).

God, why would you want to do that to yourself? ;)

Because the game is AWESOME!

A lot of people didn't like it, but I loved it.

That game is a lot of things, but "awesome" surely ain't one of 'em. Different strokes and all that, but besides the amazing cast, I can't think of one thing I really liked about the game. I'd like to see it here though, as a completest, but still, ew. ;)

I remember it was awesome too, but it's been many years.

Okay, I downloaded the game from two different places, but can't seem to get them to work completely with dosbox. The game runs in space flight mode, but none of the videos are playing, meaning the plot line is missing. I've tweaked and changed every setting in the dosbox config file, but can't seem to get this sucker working :(

I checked the dosbox forums, but haven't found any helpful posts. I don't see how they can say a game is "supported", but don't tell you how to get it working. Reminds me of the linux world, RTFM!, read the source code! Become an expert BEFORE asking any questions. Oh well.

Another option is to download the actual DOS version it was designed for and run that in a VirtualBox, then play the game there. I did that with Ultima VII a while back because I couldn't get it to run in dosbox properly.

Couldn't you just mount the iso in something like Daemon Tools or Virtual Clone Drive and then mount the virtual drive as if it was a real drive in dosbox? Then when you are asked to change the CD you just go out of full screen and change the CD in the virtual drive and you are good to go...

I managed without such tools - I just renamed folders (e.g. CD1 to CD, CD to CD1 and CD2 to CD, and so on...). The problem is that player can't deal with this (CDs' changing) from "inside of the game". "DVD Edition" could be the best solution... :-)

There's a simpler solution but it breaks the random fmv mission encounters - some of the disk specific ones will never trigger - After installing the game, copy all the cds into the install directory. Then edit DARK..CFG to point to the install directory. It's kind of a makeshift no-cd patch. The game will still be a challenge to get running properly in dosbox or windows though.

Yes, I know but I prefer every other "switching method" to enjoy FULL game... ;-)
Going to bump this. Also looking badly to get privateer 2 from gog.com.

Bumping again, Mainly because I'm almost done with P1 and need more fun stuff before Squad42 comes out next year!!! :)
Any news?
