GOG have so far been unable to offer the addons due to legal issues. Paul Barnett over at EA has made attempts to remedy the situation and he recently tweeted that he was making some progress to resolve said legal issues, but at this point it's impossible to predictt if or when the addons will ever show up here.
Any details on what the legal issues are? Seems rather curious to me.

In this podcast, Barnett explains what's going on there, about 30 minutes in. Apparently, EA's lawyers weren't comfortable with simply allowing a GOG release of the addons, because they wanted absolute certainty that EA was legally allowed to release them. Barnett seems to be working on it, so there's some hope at least.

Translation from EA to human language: "WE WANT MORE MONEY"... :-/

Thanks. I can't listen to the podcast (at work). Does he explain WHY they are concerned they might not be legally allowed to release them? Seems strange.

The lawyers were specifically interested in finding materials (such as gold master discs and the like) that would prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that EA owned the rights to the data and code of the expansions. They wanted answers to questions like "Do we have the master discs sealed and numbered in our archives?" or "How can we prove that this is our code?"

Barnett doesn't (probably can't) go into more detail here, but it seems like EA simply want to be sure that they won't get into any trouble over some (hypothetical) old license agreement that nobody knows about anymore.

Thanks for the explanation. If they are that concerned though, I'm shocked Ultima VII ever got released seeing as the source code is long lost.
