xercus: I'm no easy quitter when it comes to games I want to have a go at, and having paid money for a non working game, it made me go that extra mile.
As it turns out, a cracking group named "SiMPLEX" did crack the Steam version of the game and that one (considering you are not downloading web-shit, but the original cracked version) is in fact working in offline mode...without the white screen bug.
What that means, is that there is a way around the bug which is not implemented in the GOG version, and I can't help but wonder why.
Romulus: Thank you for this 'solution' your suggestion guided me onto the right path. Anyone else experiencing this bug with the GOG version should read over this post and draw some logical conclusions on what to do next.
You are ever so welcome : ) On topic though, it is sad that GOG didn't fix this and let us on our own to find a 'solution' which is strictly illegal, but in our case well within the legal reign. There are a number of games they've chosen not to fix, among them is "Zork - Grand Inquisitor" where you currently download the DVD version without any means to play its contents unless you update Scumm VM
https://www.scummvm.org/ to the current version on your own.
It's not that we can't do it, but it seems unnecessary. In my book, this is down to how serious you are... Still, this is down to money talks and bullshit walks and few of us were born whole wood...
