Hello!

I got the following bug. After I took the scarf from Owl Man I got a white screen and no new scene. I tried restarting the game but the problem has occurred once agan.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I have updated the game via Galaxy client and the bug is gone now. As far as I understand it was caused by some acheivements-related stuff missing,
I can confirm this works. I used the offline installer and every time I picked up the scarf at the end of Chapter 2 it would be stuck in a white screen while music played. Checking Task Manager I saw Unity had silently crashed in the background.

Installing it through GoG Galaxy did the trick, seemed to be stuck on confirming an achievement unlocked.
It probably works using the Galaxy client as stated above.
However, it still does not work without and for me who only play offline, this is a game breaker.
The Galaxy client requirement should have been noted on the store page to avoid people wasting their money on non-working games.

The current non-working game installer is v0.5, trouble is you won't see that until you buy.
I'm no easy quitter when it comes to games I want to have a go at, and having paid money for a non working game, it made me go that extra mile.

As it turns out, a cracking group named "SiMPLEX" did crack the Steam version of the game and that one (considering you are not downloading web-shit, but the original cracked version) is in fact working in offline mode...without the white screen bug.

What that means, is that there is a way around the bug which is not implemented in the GOG version, and I can't help but wonder why.

Now, the cracking groups are not at all bad as they are but the sole reason why we have a gaming history at all, considering all the DRM we've been through. Trackmania Sunrise Xtreme (a racing game containing the StarForce micro fingerprinting scheme) is not working on current computers without a crack and that is just one example of an adrenaline filled, great game among many (you'll need a wheel joystick with pedals to fully enjoy it).

...and the story lingers on...

Well, I am playing on a Mac, and this version has the exact same problem.
Take scarf, white screen until the end of time.
I even wondered if this was one ending that I was not getting.
Forced quit, tried again (which is super annoying because the last save is several minutes earlier because the game obviously moves slowly) and the same thing.
Just out of scientific thoroughness I tried for a third time and, well...

Since I have tried to like Galaxy many times before but found it impossible, I guess i will have to make my own ending with the power of imagination.
Or just watch a Let's Play on the internet.

What a mood killer that bug. I was totally enjoying this visual novel.

Thank you for this 'solution' your suggestion guided me onto the right path. Anyone else experiencing this bug with the GOG version should read over this post and draw some logical conclusions on what to do next.

You are ever so welcome : ) On topic though, it is sad that GOG didn't fix this and let us on our own to find a 'solution' which is strictly illegal, but in our case well within the legal reign. There are a number of games they've chosen not to fix, among them is "Zork - Grand Inquisitor" where you currently download the DVD version without any means to play its contents unless you update Scumm VM https://www.scummvm.org/ to the current version on your own.
It's not that we can't do it, but it seems unnecessary. In my book, this is down to how serious you are... Still, this is down to money talks and bullshit walks and few of us were born whole wood...
This crash has been fixed by the developers, with GOG installer setup_when_the_past_was_around_0.64_(57966).exe I can progress further.
