I have played through the entire game using Wine, and provided that it is configured correctly, it works from start to finish without any issues. Here are the details of my setup and the configuration that I used.
System: Ubuntu 18.04, with NVidia GTX 1660 Ti
Wine version: Lutris 5.4. I've seen reports that it also works with Proton, and it probably works equally well with other recent versions of Wine.
Configuration: DXVK is required. No other custom configuration is necessary. In Lutris, this can be enabled with a switch. Most of the game will work just fine without it, but there are severe graphical glitches during Barbara's and Sam's stories. Enabling DXVK solved the problem for me. If you are playing and find that the interactive portion of Barbara's story is very dark and glitchy, then you are seeing the problem. Many recent games work better with DXVK (and some require it), so I suppose this isn't unusual. At least it is an easy fix.
Since the graphical glitches don't occur until well into the game, I thought I should post this here so that others can solve the problem before it happens. Of course, other people's systems may be different, so it can't be guaranteed that this game will work for everyone.
