I've installed it, loaded previous save games, none of them have a ghostly carriage in Dirtwater.

Started a brand new game, zipped all the way through it... at no point is there ever a ghostly carriage in Dirtwater.

Installed the DLC file all over again, just to try it... no ghostly carriage in Dirtwater ever, anywhere.
Have you tried using the GOG Galaxy client? That has resolved some DLC issues for some folks.

If that isn't a viable option, can you send an email to support@asymmetric.net, with details about your OS (what kind, what version)?

Extra details could be appreciated, especially if you just updated from Galaxy, tried installing on release day and so on. Is it the Windows, Mac, Linux version?

At least here's what I can say about the Windows version :
I had the same problem until about half an hour ago, when I had a completely stupid idea (you know, the kind so basic it worked).

I located my saves, copied the save folder (ie c:\users\<name>\AppData\LocalLow\Asymmetric Software\West of Loathing -only the bold part) away on the desktop, removed the old backup saves, removed everything except my active saves, their backups and the "permaflags" file.
I then made a full uninstall of the game (ie click "no" when the unistaller asks if you want to keep you saves, so that everything is deleted and cleaned).

Then I downloaded the installers once again (with a cleared cache on your browser maybe it'll help, before I had 2 different 32bit installers and one 64bit installer, now I have a proper one fo each Windows version).
Reinstalled WoL.
Put the saves back into the proper AppData folder.
Ran it. Exited after getting the title screen and checking my latest saves were available.
Then I installed the DLC and exited the installer did no click Launch, although I doubt it'd make a big difference).
Finally I ran the game again, picked my main save (almost beaten the game), went to Dirtwater, and all was well and good. The ghost carriage was parked right where it should be, close to the Saloon and the General Store.

I'm currently exploring the hedge maze and got through some great jokes and powerful items. Already thinking of getting them silver-plated, just for kicks.

Not getting it to work either, The direct download has a wierd extension so I downloaded one throw the download links but the carriage doesn't show up in Dirtwater, even looked at a lets play to see the exact location the carriage is suppose to be at.

Try clearing you browser cache, it helps refresh the links on GOG itself.
First time I could only download the installer executable through Galaxy, the site would give me the linux shell file (SH extension). That was last weekend on the GOG DLC release. The link got fixed a few days later and yesterday I finally got it all together again.
I suspect something went wrong when installing the updated game before uninstalling, thus just overwriting.

Did you update the game to v1.11.11j before trying to install the DLC?

Also have you tried making a backup of your saves and making a full uninstall before reinstalling the game, putting your saves back and installing the DLC after booting the game once?

It did wonders for me.

Got it working, thanks! I just uninstalled the old version (kept the savegames) downloaded from gog down loader links and it appears everything is fine with my old saves and have activated the DLC. Previously I just installed the new version over the old one so that might of been the problem, anyway everything is running smooth now so I'm off for more adventuring in the west.

Yeah, seems something in the overwriting process didn't work that well, maybe a specific file wasn't updated properly.
Enjoy the DLC, I know I'm having fun with it (although I still have a lot of leveling to do to keep up with the new enemies).

Thank you very much for the response! Galaxy isn't really an option, as I don't use 3rd party clients for gaming, which is why we're here and not the Steam support forums, ha ha!

However...

I ran through this and it fixed everything. Fully clean install, copied back the save files, and voila, there's the carriage.

Hopefully anybody else with this issue can follow the same steps. Thank you Megacyclo!

My pleasure. I know it's my ego speaking here, but maybe someone could mark my first post as the solution, that could help a lot of people methinks.
Funny how "clean uninstall/reinstall" and "turning it off and on again" still work, no matter who, what, when, or where.

May I ask why Galaxy isn't an option? I had serious doubts about it (I'm kinda allergic to clients) but it's really not invasive at all.
Unless you want achievements to unlock and maybe a muliplayer lobby for some games, you can pretty much turn it off and uninstall it as soon as you're done, also there is an option in the settings to not track achievements if you don't care, and also to not auto-update games if it annoys you.
It's just another access to your GOG account which means you don't have to use your browser for whatever reason.
It's probably the first time I endorse a client, and, knowing my paranoia and general distaste regarding these things, that says something.

I see no real advantages to using a client on a service whose main appeal is owning the files. If everyone starts using the client then GoG may very well take away offline installers (not a jab at GoG I am just worldwary). I also dislike how Galaxy is required to install Gwent even though Galaxy is not required to play Gwent (At least I tested uninstalling Galaxy and still launch Gwent). Overall the reasons to not use Galaxy, even though small, outweight whatever advantages Galaxy has.

Anyhow, I also had trouble getting DLC to work and a simple uninstall/ delete files/ reinstall fixed it. As a word of warning though, if you have a hard mode character it may not be pleasant to challenge the manor because it scales much higher than the base game does (at least with my char that was overleveled and had 0 trouble with base game). Even fighting basic enemies was a challenge even with boosters. I'd have to grind rare boosters to give it another go on that character.
