I wasn't expecting GOG to join in on this early access nonsense. Selling unfinished games. Really?

Sorry, you're never going to be Steam, btw.

GoG doesn't want to be Steam, but Early Access is something that Gamer use.

If GoG doesn't offer a similar service, it means VALVe gets to put their padlocks on some gamer's games even before they're released.

The main difference between InDev and Early Access, is GoG has a much better level of Quality control. I expect all InDev games to reach release at an acceptable standard. Early Access, has already had its fair share of cash ins.

It's also not selling, its pre-ordering with access to beta.
Also, while in development the early access is cheaper than the final version.
Buying it in while in development is cheaper than buying it when it's done.

While I can see this being true, it doesn't exactly inspire a great deal of faith. Most of us have been burned by Steam's early access. I will no longer buy any unfinished game no matter how good it looks.

Doing so is only encouraging more incomplete, abandoned games, and is probably going to be very bad for the end user in the long run.
I have only bought one early access/in-dev game on steam and will never do so again. It has been in "alpha" for 4 years. I gave up on it, Not saying this one won't be completed but I am not going to be burned again.

As interesting as much of this game looks I also don't like perma-death, having to eat/drink to stay alive or...change diapers, I do enough of that in RL I don't need it in my "entertainment" too.

This is also the major turn down for me currently. Arthur gets hungry, thirsty and tired after only a couple of minutes after "refilling". The day/night cycle is WAY too short as well. A day (or night) last perhaps 3 minutes.

We have just set up a "preview" branch on the Galaxy client that will allow you even earlier access to our next update. This dramatically tones down Arthur's food/thirst complaints, and fixes your day/night cycle. (Incidentally it was actually at 20 minutes - we've increased it to 30.)

I love you guys!
But is this possible with the offline installer too? I'm not too fond of Galaxy :/

Honestly I'm not sure yet - I suspect you'd have to re-download the preview version from the website, and as this is the first time we've done it, we don't have answers yet.

But what's wrong with Galaxy! I quite like it.

Thanks so much for the reply!

Is there any chance there could be a YouTube preview created with the more refined hunger/thirst day/night cycles?

The game really does have a unique creepy charm. (Does that even make sense?) I just can't explain it better atm. sigh

Cheers,

Hehe :)
It's alright and all but behaves weirdly with WHF. It won't create desktop shortcuts for example
