Every time I boot the game up, I get a runtime error, telling me that the program requested termination in an unusual way.

I've tried reinstalling my C++ redistributable, tweaking my codecs, reinstalling the game, and the usual stuff, but I can't seem to get it working.

Waiting on a reply from the official support on this issue. In the meantime, have any of you had this problem and found a way to solve it?

I was really looking forward to trying this one out :(

I''ve found a fix for this problem in the Steam forum - i've had the exact same one - and the fix finally worked.
Here is a link to a Steam forum posting how to do it - it's really easy to follow and to do:

I just wanted to add, that i've downloaded and installed the directx 2010 (x86) pack before, like described in many postings online, which didn't help and kept showing this very same runtime error after it.
Only the solution with this codec tweak tool described in the linked posting helped right away !

I tried using that solution previously. I tried it again just now as well, but unfortunately, I'm still getting the same error.

Sorry to hear, that this is not everyone's solution ... but it seems to be a few things have to be fitting to get the game working.
Like for one this codec clean up using this tool, second the installation of the right LAV codec, third directx 2010 x86 pack, forth right after older dx 2010 installation running again the newest "dxwebsetup.exe" , fifth having the right physix driver installed - and if this is not working, to copy the physx.dll directly in the game folder.
Maybe there is even more necessary - but that would be quite a lot of things for only one game, to get it working, where most of all other games - new or old - are running without problems...
