Waxworks was incredibly gory, especially back in 92. Believe me, you will die all the time and it will often be in a humorous or disgusting way.
It's a fairly standard dungeon crawl type affair but the story is quite interesting and all the silly gore (by our standards) makes it hilarious.

Yep, this game is definitely not for the squeamish.
I remember playing this on Amiga when it came out and I loved it! Spent hours drawing out maps on paper (very easy to get lost).
If you liked the Elvira RPGs then you'll also enjoy this!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! SERIOUSLY??? THIS SITE ROCKS!!!
One of the grandest legacy adventure games ever made. It didn't talk down to me...it didn't hold my hand...it punished me in horribly brutal ways, over and over, for weeks until I finally won. And there are only a few games that have EVER given me that level of satisfaction since.
I never actually owned this game. I got a pirated copy from a friend's pirated copy. I wanted to buy it (because I don't pirate), but I could never find a store copy. I will GLEEFULLY pay for it now, and put to rest a decades-old debt I never thought I would able to repay (in spirit at the very least).
THANK. YOU. GOG.
Take a look at 03.png... That's an Ur-Quan, that is!!!

Well... that's a little bit far fetched... its like saying that greys from X-Files and Star Gate are similar therefore it is this same thing.

Noooo, I don't think it is, since the "grey one" has been the "standard issue" alien appearance since about the time of the Roswell incident (1948), while the Ur-Quan looks rather distinctive, and doesn't really look like anything else.
It looks even more like the Kohr-Ah, the black subspecies of Ur-Quan.
But hey, it could be a coincidence. I've just never seen anything resembling an Ur-Quan anywhere but in the Star Control games.
there hardly is any game that I say to myself "Yes, I'm going to buy this." on here.. but I think this is one.
I think that alongside Moonstone & the Alien Breeds, this was probably the game I spent the most time with on my Amiga. As people have mentioned above, it was horribly difficult but that made it all the better when you did succeed. Seeing this also makes me wish for Realms of the Haunting to turn up on here.

Oh, I remember how afraid I was when playing Realms of the Haunting alone years ago. Great title! Hope it will be available on GOG some time in the future, and I hope it's sooner rather than later. Another game I need to vote on.
Is this game really that gory, or does it have an occasional still picture of something that is rendered in a more cartoon nature?
I still have the original game, mint in box ;)

It's mostly still pictures, some examples can be seen here :

EDIT: The link doesn't work, but copy and paste it, and get rid of the space between e and x, and it does :P
I don't know why this happened, I don't actually have a space in my post??

Clearly bloody and disturbing game. Ah, I see you found the reason for it not working; I was just typing that to let you know! :o)
It seems I can't fix the link, because there is no space when I open up the edit window, and if I try to write the link down again, it just does the same thing again. But never mind, just copy/paste...
Yes, this game is very disburbing, that's for sure. I just wrote a review (here on GOG) , if anyone wants to read about my opinion on this game :)
