Waxworks is one of my all-time favourite games. This is a chance to remove some of the flaws the game had in puzzle- and level design, but I'm very curious to see how it will stand up to the original in terms of atmosphere.

Looking forward to more updates. Good luck!

Thanks, and yes we will fix the original issues and frustration and make it smooth and very well playable. We will also add a few new features and try to keep the atmosphere very creepy.
I read the list of features for this special edition. I'm interested in how you plan to implement both grid-based and free first person movement. Won't that mean having to redesign most of the levels? Walking around freely in a maze-like enviroment that was designed for a grid sounds quite odd, for example.

I think the idea of making it easier for the player to heal up is good, since the original game could be unforgiving in that department. I'm not sure I like the idea of increasing the weapon efficiency though. Take the mine for example, the only useful weapon was the spray gun. Knowing that the melee weapons were useless against the plant monsters and that you could run out of fuel for the spray gun at any time increased the tension immensly. Would hate for that to disappear.

I'm sure you've thought this through though, I can't wait to see more footage from this new version.

We are going to change the gameplay quite a lot. If you grab any tool i.e. shovel, axe pick, bar etc you will be able to use it as weapon. The effect will be huge...not like in original game. This SE version will be more realistic and you should be able to kill the creature with shovel as good as another tool. Of course, it depends what kind of mutant is standing in front of you.
The energy sources will be from food, water, bandages and maybe some potion. You dont need skill points anymore.

We have grid-based camera and FPS camera already set up, but we haven't made final decision yet. We might stuck with FPS for now. If we implement it to the game, its gonna be optional.
The project looks very promising. If only the same job was done with Elvira games once too. Or would be nice at least if Adventure Soft brought Elvira games on GOG. Shame there is no complete Horror Pack on GOG.

Nice. I'm looking forward to this project! :)
Looks great. But please don't change the grid-based movement. Legend of Grimrock has great movement combinet with free look. Also weapons sholdn't be that powerful since we fight supernatural beings. Except the Pyramid map.

Good luck :D
