How do you spend $60 bucks on a game only to discover you have to spend $10 more to get a pdf manual....?

Maybe I'm wrong--surely I've missed something. Anyone have info?
Sitting it out for a year until InXile fixes it to a state where it's coming without bugs, the answer cannot be given directly as to where to find the manual or whether it is provided with your version purchased on GOG. Usual suspects are the folder the game has been installed to and visiting your game library website !client and see whether it can be found in the Extras tab. There is a manual available online over at gamepedia.com if you can't find it elsewhere.

remember wasteland 2 and the fake red boot dlc joke at 49$95 . basically saying we are the good guys we will never rip you off with a silly dlc .

now wasteland 3 is 60$ and the manual is a 10$ dlc , good job , welcome to the dark side .
Thanks guys...it's weird, but there isn't even a read.me file explaining the options--well, the video options in particular. Most are self-evident, but there are a few I'm not sure of and would like to know what they do. Seems like a silly thing to forget.

Also, btw, checked with a guy who bought the extras only to find that not even the $10 manuals include any description of video options in the game (or any of the other config options.) It isn't as if they haven't had time, is it?...;) How do you forget something as basic as that?

Does hovering over or clicking on an option result in an explanation of what the setting does? Have you tried?

Looking at the many options in this settings guide they would have had to include a large portion of the Unity user manual ... If you wish to learn more about the settings and how they improve visual quality and to learn what impacts performance from most to least you may wish to look this information up in the Unity manual For instance there is a short but comprehensive explanation of what CHROMATIC ABERRATION is and does.

Chromatic Aberration creates fringes of color along boundaries that separate dark and light parts of the image. It mimics the color distortion that a real-world camera produces when its lens fails to join all colors to the same point. See Wikipedia: Chromatic aberration

If you want to see what some of the settings do you'd have to use your favorite search-engine and look up images or find a website dedicated to explain the technical stuff visually.

Of course. There is no bullet text or otherwise text that appears when mousing over the options--that is the first thing I did. Had such information been there we would not be having this conversation...;)

I don't need to see examples of what the options do--all I need is a little text explaining them. Actually...not all of them, just the video options would suffice. Some of them are self-evident as I said, but some are not. IMO, there is no excuse to ship a $60 game without a configurations options read.me file; and then to charge an additional $10 for a "manual" which has no information on the configuration options at all. I know what most of them do--but, again, a few are not self-evident. No one should have to Bing/Google the configuration options for a game--they might not be generic, anyway.

I thought perhaps you might but could not possibly know is why I was asking. :-) The other reason is that I thought there is at least a slight chance InXile considered implementing basic tool-tip information to provide basic information about what the more obscure settings do. Since they didn't include the manual in the standard version it would have been the least they could have done. It is difficult to understand why they include one in Deluxe edition as extra. When there is one it can't be optional and there are people out there reading the f*ing manual before firing up the game.

I got that yet thought it can't hurt offering the suggestion. :-) That there shouldn't be necessity to go search on the Internet for that sort of information goes without saying! In this case there doesn't seem to be a way around it unless InXile decides to also include the manual in the basic version of their game - which they should.

Add: I googled and found a copy of that manual and can say that it contains basic game play information which you are likely to learn all about when playing the game. That is to say if a tutorial exists and you aren't thrown into the deep end you will not need that manual. What they did include on the second to last page are clickable links to their EULA and Privacy Policy. For laughing out loud ... why of all things would they dedicate a full-color page to that?! What there isn't to be found is information about graphics or system settings which renders it useless, optional and not worth buying into Deluxe Ed. or upgrading to unless one is also interested in whatever else this version would have to offer.

Good deal...;) I appreciate the suggestions. My entire irritation with this one situation is merely that something so basic as a game configuration options read.me--at the least--is fairly standard in gaming traditionally. Were I the developer this would never have been simply left out of the basic game package.

In this case it is particularly difficult to understand why they left it out. Of course there is the Internet you can look things up and ask questions which is hardly a good reason for InXile/Deep Silver to have customers do all the extra work. As for me? I stopped taking anything for granted that was common 10, 20 or 30 years back. Nowadays people praise developers for including those basic if they do ... Far have we come, no?

Anyway, since I mentioned the manual, but forgot to link to the source, which is archive.org you have to search for Wasteland 3 Ranger Manual to find it there.
