Greetings all,

As with most companies, we moved to a work-from-home environment some weeks ago, and that’s of course introduced new challenges that many of us throughout the world have been learning to manage. We’ve been excited to see the Wasteland 3 Beta so well received, but the reality is that with these new logistical challenges our release was going to be impacted.

We’re in a great position with both Microsoft and Deep Silver supporting our desire to ensure the game launches in the best possible circumstances, and to add a few extra months to ensure this is a stellar product on day one. With that, Wasteland 3’s new release date is August 28, 2020.

That’s time we’re putting into acting on Beta feedback and suggestions, optimization, polishing and refinements, and making sure we have an awesome co-op experience. We’re pouring our hearts into this game, and the last thing we want is to have anything but an amazing launch for a product we truly believe in.

We appreciate everyone’s excitement and continued support as we put a few more months into ensuring that on launch day Wasteland 3 is the experience you’ve been waiting for.

Thank you and stay safe,

Apparently not on Linux.
Hoping that the linux version will work better than Wasteland 2.

Hi Devs,

will you also integrate the achievements in the GOG version?
The most important thing right now, is not games nor movies, but our health! So stay healthy guys!!

That said, I am truly looking forward for your game! And as a backer i wonder when the backer-serials will be sent out?

Hey ;)

What is the reason for the silent removal of any mention of Linux support both here on GOG and on the Steam store page?

The devs reported this change a few months ago to the backers on FIG.

The very last mention I get about Linux in my Fig e-mails is the following one, last February:
Wasteland 3 of course releases May 19, 2020 for Windows, Mac,
Linux, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and we’re looking forward to
getting the game into your hands.

I've been getting regular emails...generally 1 or 2 a month. Strange. Of course, now it looks like GOG has pulled the game and re-marked it as "Coming Soon"

I found the update thanks to your pointers: Wasteland 3 Beta Improvements + Mac and Linux Delay
As I’m missing all updates after #38, I guess I unsubscribed from the mailing list but forgot about it.

I am not really confident about inXile promises of providing anything "later", they have already shown that this is not where they shine…

Me too. I preordered it shortly before "release date" only to find out that Linux was removed on release. Maybe I should have better inform myself before, but a hint on the page about the delayed Linux release would have been fair. Still think about a refund if the Linux version of Desperados III pops up in the next days.

I can relate, I had a similar situation with BattleChaser (did not end that well, see e.g. https://www.gog.com/forum/battle_chasers_nightwar/linux_port); for Wastland3 I have found the situation still annoying (however I did not preorder it) but not unusual.

Preordering should not be treated as kickstarting, and -- once announced -- having a native linux version should not be considered an optional additional feature that you can remove if you do not have time to develop, as it is a necessity in order to play the game if linux is your OS (excluding wine-like solutions, since they are supported neither by the producers nor the online stores). I am unsure whose the fault is, but I do find unfair that a company is allowed to claim that their game can run on some OS at pre-order time, just to remove it as soon as you are in principle able to download it; considering that developing for a one OS or the other does take time and effort, I cannot see how this is not known and revealed to the backers way in advance. On top of that, then perhaps the game never get released or it is only available in a subset of the original online stores selling it (i.e. not gog, see the link above); typically all of this happening with no much transparent explanation given, even when you specifically search for it.

End of the little rant.

I guess that is the price of being rebought by Microsoft. Backers can just be forgotten, Xbox WILL be released on time.
