ETA on Wasteland 2 patch 3 for GOG version?
Normally I'm pretty patient and I'm a big supporter of GOG, but come on, you guys. If you want to compete with the likes of Steam, you have to up your game. The Steam players have been playing their game with patch 3 for hours now and not even a word about it from GOG.

I'm a huge supporter of DRM-free but I have to say it gets pretty old and stale constantly feeling like the second class citizen or read-headed stepchild because I don't want to tie my games to a client. Is there any info at all on this latest patch?
i'm curious how the gog support team is going to publish the mac & linux versions of patch3.
will there be a standalone patch for the linux version or will redownloading the entire game be needed a 3rd time?
Release notes

Lots of fixes again :)
still no Patch 3 :(
what's the hold-up?

I agree. The patch has been out for a day now, yet there is no sight of it here on GOG. I suppose they have some type of quality assurance before sending it out, but it's still disappointing it is delayed compared to the certain other outlet. Hopefully it will come out today at least.

It's sure nice to get patches day 1 but there are indeed good things about GOG's system.

First, patches here seem to be significantly smaller than on Steam which is good for many people. See here: https://forums.inxile-entertainment.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=11018#p139330

Secondly, sometimes patches get released and immediately after people encounter sever problems and the patch has to be hotfixed or taken down. Anybody remember the fiasco with the invincible radscorpions (was it FO: NV, or FO3?)? So it can be good to wait a Little.
so is it so hard to pack all files into GOG installer,

10 minute work tops !@

GOG does some quality testing before releasing, ensuring the patch applies fine in various setups (32/64 bits, version of OS, ...). Probably also check things like if it does warn the user about low disk space, ...

Testing takes a lot of time.

And it's not like waiting 1 day or 2 days more for a patch is really that bad... people are so impatient nowadays :(
Normally it wouldn't be a huge deal to wait a day or three, but I have run into a issue that means I can't really continue, so I hope the new patch fixes the issue.

Look at my join date. I've stuck around here because I love GOG's DRM-free philosophy and I prefer getting my games here over anywhere else. But I'm not an apologist for GOG nor do I overlook their shortcomings.

I'm well aware of the possible advantages of waiting for a patch (although I prefer that to be my chose, not imposed), but my complaint stems more from a complete lack of communication. The patch was pushed out yesterday on Steam and people are already playing the new patched version. Not a word from GOG. At the very least, they should toss an announcement in the forum here that they've received the patch from inXile and are working to get it out to us GOG as soon as possible. Complete silence is both irritating and insulting.

Speaking on a broader scale, although I personally usually don't mind waiting a day or so for a patch, other users do. And as I sated before, if GOG seriously wants to promote their DRM-free philosophy and also wants to compete with a behemoth like Steam, they need to step up their game. How many Steam users or people that aren't opposed to using Steam do you think are likely going to decide to buy multiple games here when Steam gets patches before GOG does?
Last patch took a few days to arrive, without any word from Gog, too, so that's not a first and it should not be something to be worried about. They're probably working on it. As for the day one-patch, Steam has a very different workflow when it comes to that, and it's something that's bound to be improved when Gog Galaxy will arrive. In the meantime, people really should learn to just chill out and wait for things. I know it's the Internet of the "right here, right now", but they're probably going as fast as they can.

*snip*
Can't argue that, and I, too, don't wanna white-knight what GOG is doing. Communication is key, and GOG sometimes is lacking in this department.

I just wanted to point out that it's not all bad, seeing how this is the Internet and people tend to paint things black or white.

Again, I'm not worried about having the patch right now, this second. It's the lack of communication. And as you noted, this has occurred before. They should have learned from that.

Seriously, I love GOG and it's my number one site for games, hands down. I want them to succeed. But this isn't the way to do it. As you said: it's the internet and it's 'right here, right now'. If GOG can't deliver 'right here, right now', they at least need to communicate about it.

I confess, I don't mind waiting a few days, it's ok. However, I do agree with you that communication could and should be better. When gog.com receives a new patch and start working on it, perhaps announcing that and an ETA, would be quite nice.
