I downloaded the patch 2.2 for Wasteland 2, but when I attempt to apply it, it fails with the error message that the patch is not for my version of the game, and I should download a new installer.

I have the installer 2.0, the patch 2.1 is installed and I doubt downloading (10 GB) a new installer will fix the issue as the one listed in my account is still the one version 2.0 (which is the one I already have). Does anyone else has a different experience?
Same goes for me. Not able to apply the patch. irritating.
Or is it the old patch, as it states 2,1? what is going on?

I'm having the same issue.
What is strange is that the file is named patch_wasteland2_2.3.0.12 while the previous one was patch_wasteland2_2.1.0.10
There was an issue with a couple languages (Russian and French), so they had to release a Hotfix. Unfortunately, GOG's numbering system is... odd. The patch you actually want is labelled in your account as Patch 2.1 (this is actually inXile's Patch 2, and it's about 1.5 GB in size). DL and apply that.

Then apply the 1.3 MB Patch 2.2(hotfix) and you should be good to go.
Gog is really going on my nerves with their patch-chaos over various games (no notifications, no patching from all kinds of source versions, now this mess with naming...).

Thanks for the info, who would have guessed that...
The patch names are not so bad. In fact, this is a hundred times better than what GOG usually does because the naming system this time around is actually based on the game version as opposed to just being a new GOG installer version with who knows what game version in it.

The problem is that the names for these patches are just temporary, they are not meant to fill up your library forever. Calling them 2.1 and 2.2 makes sense in that they show which order to apply them, but people are used to decimals in patch names to mean something else. I suspect this will be cleaned up to simply be "Patch 2" or "Patch 2 (hotfixes included)" in a few weeks before the next major update from inXile. For now, players still haven't all upgraded piece meal to the latest version so the various parts are necessary to avoid forcing anyone to download the full package just to get the hotfixes just yet.

I wish people had a better understanding of what a "hotfix" is. Often they are not necessary, they are temporary solutions to problems introduced in the most current major patch. Most customers are likely not affected by the text scale bug or the localisation bugs, so they have NO USE for the hotfix and should just play Patch 2 until Patch 3 is released in the future.

Good luck expecting people to ever become responsible and informed consumers...
so, help me out guys, since I never downloaded the first patch, does that mean that I won't be able to use this one? and, in my Wasteland library, it still states patch 2,1, not 2,2 or 2,1,0312 or whatever. I just don't get it guys....

They wouldn't take "Patch 1" off the library if it was necessary for "Patch 2". Many years ago (before GOG) it used to be that way, that you need all patches in sequence, but we are wiser now. "Patch 2" (called Patch 2.1 in your library) is the definitive current version, with "Patch 2.2 (Hotfix)" being a minor correction or mini-patch to iron out a couple of obscure bugs introduced with the latest proper patch ("Patch 2").

In the simplest terms: Install the game, apply "Patch 2" (Patch 2.1), ignore the hotfix unless you're afflicted by the bugs mentioned in the changelog for the hotfix. In the future there will be a Patch 3 to replace Patch 2. Well, unless pigs learn to fly and other unexpected stuff.
Sufyan, cheers mate, really appreciate your explanation.

(although that bloody thing still won't work! lol, unable to install.... oh well...)

To install 2.2 you have to download again 2.1 and install 2.1 first (this time 2.1 really 1,5 gb size). Then you can install 2.2. It works for me at least.

BTW old 2.1 link was to patch_wasteland2_2.1.0.10.exe
Now 2.1 actually link to patch_wasteland2_2.2.0.11.exe and 2.2 to patch_wasteland2_2.3.0.12.exe

I have no idea, man. There are no 2.0.2.3 english patch to Wasteland 2 for Windows (I play english version) on GOG.
2.0.2.3 looks more like Wasteland 1 patch to me.

P.S. I see you have Mac version. Can't help you here.

The numbering (Patch 2.0.2.3) is indeed from the Mac version.

And I am too having problems installing it. Did anyone suceed at installing the patch on a Mac?

(This is the "Patch 2", 1.8GB. There is also the hotfix, just a few MB, numbered 2.0.2.4).

I am also having this problem on the Mac Patches. Install fails on writing files every time. I've redownloaded twice.
