As I wrote before: I had problems with the download, too. My solution is to use wget. Therefor you must start a download and then copy the created link into your shell. You get a file called like this:

gog_wasteland_2_1.1.0.5.tar.gz?…(about 300 numbers and characters)…&fileExtForIe=.exe

Just delete everything after the file extension and you get a usable archive. This is very odd and just a dirty workaround. :-(

As far as Linux goes, I don't blame anyone here for complaining about that. I would too. I think it's fair to give GOG a little more time to get squared away with handling Linux. If stuff like this perpetuates into next year, then there is a problem.

Though I didn't raise hell about it, there is no excuse for the broken Windows patch either. It shouldn't happen. There should be procedures in place to prevent that.

Edit: That's not meant to take anything away from Thiev and other GOG employees that put in plenty of hours. And it wasn't that big of a deal. It can be prevented though.

+1 on proper patches for the linux client.

I appreciate that the installer was updated quickly, but without patches I'm faced with deciding whether I want to burn through more than 5% of my monthly bandwidth for bugfixes, when yet more bugfixes could very well be just around the corner.

Do I just... wait a year, at which point I can reasonably assume that no more fixes will be forthcoming, for a game that functions correctly?

I appreciate the attempt to cut corners, Wasteland 2 is a very hot title and it was worth the risk. It is unfortunate that things went awry.

Ah, ok. Well, it was just one of those things then and not due to procedure. It didn't take but a couple hours to fix. I can't speak for anyone else, but I think I would prefer to deal with a corrupted file for an hour or two instead of waiting till Monday. Thanks for trying to get it out early and then working on it remotely from the house. ;)

Anywhere I can find a mirrored site for this patch. bl.hostprotect.net keeps on blocking me when I access GOG. Hell, I don't even know what this hostprotect.net crap is.

You do realise GOG has to work with what ever files developer sends them. If dev only send full game files, that's all GOG can offer. GOG only packages (.exe, targz or what have you) the files provided by dev and builds necessary install scripts. GOG does not posses the source files to build the patches on it's own.

You do not need the source code, xdelta operates on binary files.

While I appreciate the option to download a full install at patched version (which Win version wasn't allowing it sounded like), there are binary diff/patch tools for Linux. I'm on my Ubuntu 12.04 system as opposed to 14.04, but I see both xdelta and vbindiff in the repos. There's a python-xdelta3 package as well, which would probably be helpful on installation. If you added a GOG_Fileversion_index-type file you could even manage a universal installer with it.

XDelta does have a Windows compiled binary, and the old sourceforge page shows support as Linux and BSD (so Mac should be doable). It is GPL but offers commercial license if you'd want to integrate the python library to a single binary instead of making system calls to the binary. Though on the other hand maybe you don't care about the source code to a patch utility so GPL and code release is fine (get free testing and potentially bug fixes, but no competitive advantage to whatever degree it seems like a competitive advantage).

Would like to know as well, especially since the patch apparently breaks the game if you're beyond a certain point. Was just about to start my first playthrough, but i'll wait for the patch now
