I remembered a save game editor going around during the time when Wasteland 2 was released. Does it still work with the Director's Cut version?

Since save files are incompatible, it will likely not work and need to be rewritten.

In the meantime, you could try using a hex editor to modify your stats and see what happens (but back up your save first).

A new version of the Ranger Editor for the Director Cut is available here:

Notice that save file, not the character file is a simple xml file, that you can edit with a text editor or the free tool from Microsoft XML Notepad 2007

The director's cut version of the save edit is not ready on the website above.
XML Notepad 2007 from MS can't open these files.

Notepad++ seems to work, but you're gonna have to figure out what you're doing by experimentation. The XML format of these saved games is two lines... with tons of declarations. Word wrapping does not help much.

Good luck.

Sorry, it took me awhile to reply back. In that case, I hope a workable editor will by out sometime.
Just a quick FYI...the DC version of the editor is available.

I am not sure if I read this post right but Notepad++ v6.8.6 works OK with XML Pretty Print with Line Breaks selected.
I do have an issue with a parsing error popup that I am trying to figure out but it does not stop the program showing the code in an indented manner.

This just completely broke my save game and I think I've lost all progress. Not just the save game, but the entire save system. All I did was edit 1 characters skill to move a couple points from one skill to another and saved, and then the wouldn't load. So i put the points back the way it was, saved again, and now the entire save system is broken. I can't load any games.

Well if you need some help with your save, you can send one to me and tell me what do you want.
I'll try to edit it to fit your taste.
