Not sure if this has been posted or made available elsewhere, so I got in touch with ineXile and asked about saves with the upcoming DC release.

The answer was as follows:
"I'm afraid to say that due to the extent of the changes we're making including updating to a whole new engines, saves from the previous version will not be compatible."

Not wholly unexpected with a whole new engine, but it was worth exploring, I thought.

If this info has been presented elsewhere, then apologies for double posting. If it is new, then I hope it can help people who may be thinking of starting a new game - could be worth waiting till the DC is released.

I think that previously stated that the Directour Cut will be a new game, free to everyone who already have the standard Wasteland 2.

This mean, you will have the classic and the Director Cut in your PC if you want, though probably any future patch will be only for the second.
Though, not sure if you can import PC for New Game + from the classic to the director's cut.

I don't think you'd be able to import anything, mostly based on both the character creation / levelling system beterrn the two, and the change from Unity 4 to Unity 5. They just won't be compatible.

Yep, it is a fact that you can't carry your saves from Wasteland 2 to Wasteland 2 - Director's Cut.
I just tried it today and the old ones don't work (as per the devs commentaries).

So if anyone is thinking of upgrading mid-campaign, begone sweet hopes!
