It's definitely one of the better RPGs to come out recently; however considering that most RPGs coming out recently have been soulless and/or full of excessive wokeness, that's not saying much.
Despite it being a lot shorter than its contemporaries, and some bizarre design decisions (such as the radiation indicator only going off if it will actually affect you, as opposed to indicating the actual level of radiation - so by the time it goes off you're already taking damage, not to mention that's not how rad meters work; enemies being both incredibly bullet-spongy yet still easy to take out since critical hits deal insane damage and are aplenty for both sides; the bizarre idea that everyone can resurrect anyone else (even with no medical knowledge), and there's no permanent death) - despite all of that, I found it a LOT more fun than its predecessor (Wasteland 2).
Compared to Wasteland 2, this game is far superior. Possibly because the game is smaller, the devs were able to put more effort into the encounter design and level design. This translates into far fewer trash mobs (if you have a decent enough survival skill, it's pretty much zero trash mobs since you can avoid all encounters on the world map). It also translates into the loot "boxes" being more logical - as in located in logical places (generally), instead of liberally scattered around randomly.
The plot is serviceable, in an insane comic-book kind of way. Everything is incredibly over-the-top, so if you can live with that, the game's fun.
Most importantly, there are usually multiple ways to go about things - OK the differences are usually quite subtle, but they exist, and more importantly how you go about things influences how the ending plays out.
Overall, definitely worth a shot - I plan on re-playing this as soon as I finish downloading the latest patch. Wasteland 2 on the other hand I never managed to complete once, because it got so boring by the end...
