Shame on you GoG!!

This isn't the original DLR, this is the fan-made K4SH unit rooster! FFS I can download that game on a fan website right now for free!

Too many things is altered in this version that wasn't in the orginal, and very little for the better. Besides altered unit stats, we are talking altered army cost for custom armies, hero abilities not in the orginal, slayer abilities for some units which replace their original abilities, hidden bonus stats vs certain unit types for some units, altered sight radius etc. etc. and the freaking list goes on.

Fix it to the orginal thank you! If need be, I can even lend you the orginal CD complete with manual and 16bit installer.

I have the DLR disk and I played it and compared a couple of units against the GOG version. They were the same. Do you have some specific examples/screenshots?

If you have the original, I am surprised you haven't spotted the altered units. Some K4 unit examples would be for example;

Elven Lords +2 Morale (original) is replaced with Demon Slaying
Knight Lords +2 Morale (original) is replaced with Dragon Slaying
Ogres Original combat stats are 4 str 2 hits, while the K4 Ogres have 4 str and 3 hits AND reduced building cost.
Heavy Cavalry 4 str 2 Hits (original) is now 5 str 2 hits as K4 unit.
Giants have their price halved to build.

And plenty more.

All archers have a hidden bonus to activate archery vs fliers, which they didn't have in the orginal. They had a flat chance according to archery value vs any unit.

All these changes are for the K4 community standard agreed upon by those still playing this game vs each other.

Ashaman is right. This is not original Warlords III.

I started the campaign and I quickly noticed that Paladin's abilities are changed. There is no way to increase hit points or strength. Instead there is ability called "quest" (utterly useless anyway) and some other weird things...

I played Warlords III so much that these things are painfully obvious. And these changes are not for the better... Really disappointing...

I'm disappointed about this too, losing the moral buffs for the knight lords is annoying and the OGRES now have 3 hit points. a 4/3 2 turn unit with moral +1, quite OP imo

I can adapt, it's not the worst thing in the world BUT I'd much rather the original and some sort of clear communication from the Studio, so far they've been silent about everything and it's super frustrating

So am I. I have only played the GOG version a couple of times to check how stable it is, and I have compared a few units only. I am glad the game is here on GOG anyway, especially for the new generation of players to finally experience one of the greatest TBS Fantasy games ever created!

OK, so that's explain it. I wonder if there is a way to get the vanilla version? I have to be honest, I do not like these changes.

Never was aware the K$SG DLR changed any base units, just added additional ones that will not show up in the campaign

ie "patched to the version 1.02. This package includes K4 heroes/spells and Stormheim units, which are commonly used for PBEM / Online games. A bunch of scenarios were added as well."

K4 heroes and SH units are added but as far as I know have to be assembled to be used on the stock maps though may be included in some of the user made maps. The K4 heroes mirror the stock except have different stats, SH Army units complement the original loadouts. More information on Warlorders.com and also at the below link:

Hmmm, seems I made a hasty judgement here then. Didn't know that patch 1.02 added those as I have always played the base-game.

Guess I have to stay with my XP install then.
