I would just like to put out there that I would like this game to be available for Mac users. I used to play the first one and I'm not sure how I could use any wrappers or Wineskin to play it. If GOG could make a WB 1 on the Mac, I would be very grateful. If anyone knows how I could get the game on my Mac using Wineskin or something that would be great too. Paul the Tall doesn't seem to have it.

I used the "Cossacks Art of War" wrapper from Paul the Tall and got the WBC 3 demo to work. I did not buy the full game yet but I assume it will work. I also used the same wrapper for other demos and they are working as well.

You talking about Battlecry 1? or 3? I found a wrapper on Paul the Tall for 3 and it worked, but I got really glitchy strobelight graphics.. So I used crossover and downloaded a "crosstie" for it and it works like a charm.
Anyways, if you can't find a wrapper, try Crossover. It worked for Battlecry 3 where winewrapper failed.

Just the first and second ones. I bought them in a sale. I'm naive and lazy so I was hoping GOG could do something. I only ever used one those porting tools or wrappers on Caesar 3 and it was hard to understand. Half the time I don't know what I'm talking about.

Yea I ain't no techy either man. Also a touch lazy and naive, but it's actually more simple than it sounds. You just download the program called Crossover and then download the Crosstie thingy and follow the on screen instructions. Anyways If you ever decide to play Battlecry 3 just head over to PaultheTall and look it up. It's there and it works.

PlayOnMac should work for you. http://www.playonmac.com/en/

It's a regular mac app you double click from the Application directory and you add a shortcut to on the dock.

Just choose unlisted program, new virtual drive, name the drive (like wbc3gog), choose install additional libraries, 32 bit installation, check "POL_install_gdiplus", browse for the downloaded wbc3.exe *like from the desktop), and you're ready to go!

Fullscreen is sometimes weird on games, so I typically go for "Config Wine", then setup a windowed game (smaller than your computer's screen) during the 'check "POL_install_gdiplus"' step.

PlayOnMac is very robust, so you can mess up completely and you'll be OK with a redo. Plus you can install multiple copies, with each pointing to different desktop integration locations, so as the program gets updated you can test it without trashing your heroes. (Some changes to wbc3 have been pretty drastic.)

WBC3 is the one I'm most familiar with, and it very occasionally crashes randomly. Seemingly during launch or during very long, big battles.

Check the PlayOnWine support list for "officially" supported programs, and the web for other workarounds. And you can try stuff on your own. Plus the program is built to run with other windows apps. It's pretty freakin sweet, actually.

Thanks. I got pretty close to getting it working but went into a loop when selecting characters. I guess I'll have to try again later and have to do some actual research. Thanks again though!

Works great for me.
- OS X 10.9.5
- Wineskin with WS9Wine1.7.15NoFlicker Engine

One can even check "Use Mac Driver instead of X11" in the "Screen Options" for faster alt-tab switching.
