I bought the trilogy off GOG.com, couldn't wait to get playing warlords battlecry III, 1 and 2 work alright (most of the time) still crashes now and again but its rare enough not to interrupt game play to often.

Then I got to the Third game and it crashes every time I do anything just when you think you have finished a level build up your army and units are ready the error message pops up and kicks you off the game

If you want to buy the game out of Nostalgia fair enough but from the forums I've read there not making a patch for the problem and have yet to find anything to fix the problem

Don't buy III

1 and 2 still worth buying.
GOG has 1.035 mod which is bugged and crashes a a lot. Official version (1.03) does not.

It's been raised a lot, and I really hope GOG will roll back to the release version. The only way to get them to do this is to raise support tickets so that GOG can see this is a problem.

Perhaps also invoke their money back clause if they don't get it working (You do know that if support can't fix your problem you get a refund don't you?)

The fact is that until you guys start shouting at GOG about this rather than the forums, this will not be fixed.

I hope you mean fixed release version. The one dev/publisher provided GOG and other DD stores was broken from getgo. That is why, originally, GOG was forced to use the unofficial patch to even make it work properly. Unfortunately the patch had quite lot of controversial changed aimed for multiplayer. The 1.350 mod, if GOG's version really contains it today, must've been added later.

I think the one I've got that works is something like 1.0.3.24, I do remember that it had an irritating swear word in the message when your enemy was converting your buildings, but was basically stable (for me).

It's entirely possible that this version would crash for everyone else anyway, or people would miss a lot of the content that has been added for this latest patch. The best situation would be to provide a vanilla installer, a load of patches, and let us choose, possibly on the provision that the only supported version is the one GOG recommend.

I've been looking up in the history, I think the word from GOG was that they Official 1.03 version has a bug where a system with over 3GB of (something - I presume RAM) would cause units to vanish. What was the point number of the stable version?

Welcome to GOG btw. How did you come by the site? You seem to be a WBC3 modder, so I assume you're familiar with the others here?

The 1.0.3.24 is the unofficial patch. You can read the changelog here.

Are you sure and how do you tell? I installed it and version number was 1.03.24 (meaning unofficial patch).
I'm only a few missions in but I haven't had any crash problems yet. Is there a certain point I should expect something?

Apparently opening spellbook causes crashes on Win 7 64-bit and there are randon crashes as well. Did not run into any myself in first two mission on WinXP Pro 32-bit.

I think it must be the 64 bit. I'm at 32, full resolution and looking great, and so far I'm fine. How sad is this, I'm actually going through all these different character types trying to get it to crash. :P I've opened my spell book and raised everything I can but she's just fine.....so far.
I haven't crashed either.... not constantly to the point where I can't play the game. I've played many, many battles and I've been fine.

Win 8.1 64bit

I bought Warlords Battlecry 3 from another DRM free internet store, version 1.03, and I haven't had any problems. I did have invisible units, but doing the compatibility mode fixed that issue. Easy as pie!

I'm glad I didn't buy it here if this is the case. If they're selling games with unofficial user mods on them, the user should be able to decide whether or not they want them. For example, list the original release of the game as a download, then list the mod as an option to download. Me personally, I dislike user mods, don't want them, don't need them(unnofficial patches are okay with me).
