Hello everyone. I recently picked up Chaosbane Slayer Edition while it was on sale. Unfortunately for me, I have been plagued by poor performance but only in cutscenes and menus. There is also a performance hit in game when an NPC says something and text pops up on screen. Every other instance the game runs fine for me. I have tried searching around and everything, but I am not finding anyone that is having the same issue as me.

What's interesting to me is that when I am experiencing the problem, my system resources do not look to be heavily utilized at all. Instead, the graphs are very inconsistent. But when I am in game everything smooths out and stabilizes for the most part like you would expect. I would assume that my spinner drive would be the bottleneck, however it doesn't appear to be under any heavy load when the issue is occurring so I am left with some doubts. Screen shots provided with task manager and my AMD overlay opened on them.

I am running:
AMD 5700G
Radeon RX 6600XT
16Gb of DDR4 RAM
Window 11 Home

I know that I am very recent with my OS and AMD patches. I just installed the July rollup for Windows 11 and I am on 23.7.1 of the AMD Adrenalin software and drivers.

I've attempted to add links with screenshots and game logs, but it's not letting me post with those links in in here. Trying with all links removed.

I'm a bit late here, but I had some performance issues when I first ran the game also. Not sure if this will help, but I had to adjust my frame rate (or maybe it was called max fps or refresh rate) in NVidia. I had the latest driver installed also.

I usually set most games to 59 or 60 for the refresh rate for the main exe file in NVidia control panel settings. I don't know if I set it to 59 or 60 for this game, but either would have worked I believe.

Again, not sure if this will fix the issues mentioned, but worked for me. Also, the game is installed on Windows 7.

@jboulet, you might be lagging at times when there's a lot of new data being loaded into memory. My rig's very new and somewhat ridiculous with 64 GB of RAM and everything runs buttery smooth at 4k resolution with all the graphics set to max. Process Explorer reports that it's using 6GB of Private Bytes and 2.2GB in its Working Set. I'm running the game off a big spinning HD too.

Any background processes you can kill to free up memory? Or when it's running for you, can you switch out and see lots of free RAM? If your computer's deciding to shift some Chaosbane bytes to virtual memory, that could cause some lag.
