Your patch taken from Retail patches should work. That one above with steam related error - is a messed patch not from retail. Probably wrong link. Or correct link (steam user mention it is old backup so he can miss which files he share) but still messed patch. That mean it was not from retail and made for replace minimum files. AS result steam exe in use. And with steam exe steam dll in use. It was made to be played with steam. Maybe he found backup of old Steam Delivery system NCF where THQ build present (SteamPipe update come along with Sega start to update old bought products, some publishers assist Valve making SteamPipe updates).

If old patch based on Steam there is chance it wont work anymore for Steam too. Depend on Steam and games updates.

And ofc it never support non-steam version.

Your Retail-based patch should work. BUT! Official DRM-free exe exist for sure, but extremely rare or never been on public relases. Maybe that why steam user keep using steamclient.dll DRM version exe. He keep it non-disc edition.

There is downgrade patch on DOWOnline and maybe somewheee else. They all use cracked exe i suppose (or at least rdn.dll or whatever it named). That the easiest ways although even for dll-based crack it can bring issues and not compatible with exe-cracked version.
Best of easy available solutions is MINI-IMAGE shared on GCW/TBP or maybe somewhere else.

As for unlocking races. To do that we need proper WinRegistry REGEDIT entries (HKLM/Software and HKCU VIRTUALSTORE) with cd-keys and DOWWADC exe locations.
Plus we need exe itself. Put them at registry locations. Any version are good.

Any DOW/WA/DC/SS CD-keys can be used. Find any online. Just put same keys in SS main menu.

Most cracks online are BROKEN for SS too. Both DC and SS. They are not compatible with DOW installations and race unlockers! As i understand working with raceunlockers crafk exist. In that case it can be only dll-based one.

So if DOWNGRADE made really from THQs Retail 1.2 and WORKING crack applied - it be 100% compatible with any version.
There is 1.1 preinstalled DOWSS editions. To be sure try to install both 1.1 and 1.2.

Dark Crusade and Winter Assault restoration are much easier - DRMfree public available just in Retail patches. No need to worry about cracks and their unlockers compatibility so no need to worry about GOG compatibility.
Maybe one exe enough. Maybe GSLobby and some else root dll files. Use NORTON/TOTAL Commander to chech Retail and GOG install folders. At first take every root files that is differ.
Restoring the LAN functionality is troublesome right now seems like, I don't even consider buying it because my DVDs are working and I can edit the registry with my keys so I don't have to install every game all the time. It is so sad how the series got messed up for the latest digital release.

As for the patches I have two files saved for Soulstorm: one for patching up to 1.10 and an another to patch up from 1.10 to 1.20 since it is much smaller than the 1.10's installer. With my father and brother we was able to play LAN while everyone using the same keys. It is real LAN through cable though.

Most recent post with screen show reenabled back old functions to new exe/dll files. That ofc version specific and harder to debugging. Need deep testing. Ideal variant if everything stay functional, ln galaxy and race unlockers.

How did that? I mean how exactly?
There is another variant - that string on screenshot menu taken from sga arcives from Locale folders. But shouldbt be such string in galaxy version too. Well maybe thatbstill a ruslt of copying only root only dll files. Exe and sga needed too maybe.

I've just tested it once more, this time applying the root\Engine\locale folder, and it works, the string wasn't a mess but further testing is required

Really need someone to test if the lan function actually works though.....
Opps, I've made a mistake uploading the wrong exe, the soulstorm.exe should not work, I will upload the file again here, This time it should work fine.

htt delete ps:/ delete / delete file delete .i delete o/ delete QR1M delete rAjyIuxU

Sorry for the mistakes, and I could not post any links at the moment so the link is uhhhh

Since maybe gog is mad at me keep posting a link even I mean no harm to anyone at all, I've made a post on steam so if anyone could would like to test it you could go to the soulstorm steam forum and find my post there

Hi etego, I don't have GOG version od DOW anymore, as I refunded the game, but I may ask my colleague who still has it, to test your package. But I see that in latest post you couldn't post a link - maybe you could send it to me by PM?

Here you go

Edit: I've found out that file io only got 1 download limit so I changed it to dropbox

update:
So someone might not be able to use the lan fix because of various reasons(e.g. like uninstalling steam version's soulstorm), ways to fix this would be ....

Use the race unlocker but that requires CD Key so good luck on that.

Hey Etego!

I've contacted my colleague and he said that the modification works like a charm - everything works fine, nothing is broken, and of course direct ip/lan multiplayer features are present.

Great work! You've done here a really great thing!

Now I regret that I returned DoW, well, need to wait for next discount I guess :P

That means I'm also in for purchasing. Thanks for testing. :)
The Steam version has no LAN either, so why is anyone surprised? The GOG version is just the same thing without Steamworks.

And it's not GOG's decision, it's Relic's and/or SEGA's. Take it up with them.

I don't care about multiplayer or mods. I have always played these games by myself with vanilla flavoring. I am happy to finally have DRM-free versions. No more discs, Securom or Steam client thank goodness.
I never was into strategic games no matter if it was RTS or turn-based. My brother introduced me to this game and my first experience was a bit of the tutorial and then LAN parties during the night, sometimes even my father joined us. It was players vs. computer enemies all the time and we never tried fighting each other. Singleplayer came into action when we wasn't able to run or even install the game on Win10 and only the old PC ran it. I played it through a lot of times and while enjoyed it a lot LAN remained nostalgic because of this. Thanks to GOG and with the patch hopefully now we can enjoy it again.

Or just both play it on steam?

But that requires online connection to start the client and log in, we never liked that option though my brother has the game on Steam as well.

Ok, I used the opportunity with current discount and re-bought the DoW 1 Collection. And thanks to fix made by etego123 I can use also non-DRMed multiplayer :)
DoW 1 and 2 both had LAN at some point, but various reworks and re-releases changed that.
The GoG versions are likely based on these releases.

But fan-patches will come in time, compatible with GoG. Apparently DoW1 already has one, see above...
