I just bought the Warcraft bundle and so far I've been unable to make Warcraft II work in Windows 10. As soon as I start either version it immediately crashes. I went through the support page already but running as admin and installing the directx packages didn't fix anything. I installed via Galaxy, not sure if that matters but wanted to mention it. I've tried running the application directly from the install folder and I get the same result.

I have newest Windows 10 update but game still won't launch. Neither classic nor updated graphics one. Same was with Diablo before they patched it. Please patch this one too.

Hmm, and my machine is one of the many that has never pulled down Redstone 5 (aka the October 2018 update - 1809). It just never shows up and I still get Windows updates for the previous version, 1803.

Also, there was an issue with one of the recent updates for Windows 10 1809, KB4482887, causing severe in-game performance issues and mouse input lag. Don't know if it was ever resolved but it doesn't encourage me to force an update (for which I imagine I'd have to download the Windows 10 Update Assistance tool).

Working fine here, Latest Win10 and WC2 booted up fine. I played for around 10 minutes without issues.

I'm having the same issue, Win10 -1809 update. Crashes in both version upon boot from galaxy.

This game isn't compatible with DEP, and GoG haven't done anything to fix that. So it crashes if DEP is turned on.

Diablo had the exact same problem when it was released here, they updated it after someone posted the exact bytes to hexedit.

The change I proposed at https://www.gog.com/forum/diablo/game_crashes_at_start/post27 also works for Warcraft 2.
The same bytes at the same positions need to be exchanged, even though the dlls are not excatly identical.
Hopefully they'll include that fix here as well.

Ye adding DEP exception may work for Classic version. The other one does not work at all. Was the same with Diablo until they patched.

@GOG any upcoming patch? Pls fix this, I wanna play.

- Added 'War2Launcher' to the Data Execution Prevention (DEP)'s exception list.
- Added 'Warcraft II Battle.net Edition' to the Data Execution Prevention (DEP)'s exception list.
- Checked 'Run this program as administrator' on both 'Warcraft II BNE.exe' and 'Warcraft II BNE dx.exe'.
- Checked 'Disable fullscreen optimizations' on both 'Warcraft II BNE.exe' and 'Warcraft II BNE dx.exe'.
- All video settings are set to default.
- Verified and updated game through GOG Galaxy 1.2.54.


Ironically the bootleg version I had before this release worked just fine.

Got newest drivers, doesn't help.
