Hi guys,

I noticed that after completing the first mission in the human campaign all briefings for the next missions are played without the background music. This is not a serious issue but takes away from the atmosphere. You can actually hear how the music starts playing for a few milliseconds when the briefing begins but then it just stops and you can only hear the narrator. Does anyone have the same issue?

I noticed this happens due to the "fade out" effect from the score screen of the last mission. You either need to skip it fast enough so it doesn't start, or wait for it to finish. If you click continue during the fade out of the music, it'll apply on the briefing mission music.

That's my guess, anyway, but as I said, if you wait for it to finish, the music on the briefing screen will always play.

Man. It sounds like the GoG release of Warcraft II has a lot of issues. I hope they will all be addressed in updates.

My DOSBox-running copy of Warcraft II with Beyond the Dark Portal has no issues and has the full soundtrack. I would buy the GoG release if I could see that it was as smooth and complete as the original game is in DOSBox.

Good luck with that. I would NEVER want to go back to not being able to see my allies vision. BNE solved those quality of life issues and then some. BNE was by far the better release imo. Although one bug I wish they hadnt removed was the lumber bug. That was actually a useful little trick for low res games. So complaining about something just because it's missing a soundtrack is utterly absurd, it's obvious you've never actually played the game online/competitively or you'd know that the BNE release was far superior in every aspect while still maintaining the same engine used by the older version. If you put the two side by side, you wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

It's not the "GOG" release, BNE had that issue to begin with, they just didn't find this completely minor and irrelevant bug. Would be nice if they fixed it though, sure.

Did BtDP even have control groups? I wouldn't want to go back to not having them, I know the original without expansion definitely didn't have them.

I didn't mean to step on your toes by pointing out valid criticism with the Bnet version of Warcraft II and consequently the GoG version of Warcraft II. You should be wanting all the best aspects in the game (like I do), and not just select ones. And the soundtrack is a huge part of Warcraft II and the game isn't all there without it - especially when the editing to cut out large parts of the original soundtrack has been done so sloppily as it is in the Bnet edition.

Like I said in my thread, I hope GoG add the non-Bnet version of Warcraft II to the GoG release.

In that thread, you claimed that the non-Bnet version of Warcraft II is already included in the GoG release. I had to point out to you that the 2 version in the GoG release are both the Bnet version of Warcraft II. I notice that you have not posted in the thread again since I pointed that out to you. So, you should verify things before being so assertive about them.

So why are you guys arguing this hard about a re-release of the old game with sustained support after launch?..

It's incredible that you're trying to pick a fight after you just humiliated yourself in a previous thread by posting false information that was debunked by me. Someone intelligent might have learned their lesson, but that obviously doesn't describe you.

Now the same thing is going to happen in this thread: Anyone whose brain is functioning reasonably would be aware that nowhere did I say that the things you mentioned ruin the game. I actually said something quite different:

So... you might want to get those hallucinations you're experiencing and which are driving you to make a moron out of yourself looked at by a specialist.

As someone who's been on the GOG forums for years, this namecalling and personal attack on another poster is completely inappropriate.

I have finished the Human campaign now and have start playing the Orc campaign. I noticed that this music bug does not appear in the orcish briefings. I skip normally through the result screen while the background music is still playing and when the briefing starts the new music fades in fine without any issues. I find it strange that this bug only seems to happen during the Human campaign.
