Dude, I'm really glad to meet someone who share my love for War Wind games! And thanks for your guide, it helps me a lot, 'cause I know WW1 much more than WW2 (WW1 was on my first PC)
I wish there was a guide for WW1

It's my long-brooded plan, to write a guide for WW1. I even have started a Wikia for War Wind series... Well, at least it has the starting page :P

When I was going through the campaigns, I wished for that too, but all I gathered from the Internet was:

1. Be good at the game.
2. Don't be bad at the game.

No problem! Unfortunately I only played 2 though not 1. I have a love/hate relationship with WW2. It's a real flawed rough gem of a game.

For example: Love: There's a lot of different wild life in the game which I like a lot as it adds lots of interesting variety. They can also be tamed so you can actually gain control of them. Ionic brakus FTW!
Hate: Wild life too aggressive at the start of levels. I often have to go on slink weed or snipe thorn hunts/pacification rounds because they keep attacking my base. And like many skills you have manually target and go around clicking to pacify.

I could go on and on about the interesting mechanics in the game which is let down by some other game design flaw. I should probably write a review about this at some point.

Well, it seems the same could be said about WW1 too. For me the sci-fi-fantasy atmosphere, very fairytale-ish graphics, music and sounds, story and all the rest 'external' things really prevail over the not-so-perfect 'internal' things like mechanics, pathfinding, balancing and so on.
Although a couple of patches could make WW2 significantly better IMO.
I have the official Prima guide for WW1. It's glorious. Helped me beat it back in the day. At least with Tha'Roon.

I find that a lot of ideas in War Wind 2 were eventually done much better in Battle Realms, Warcraft 3 and Kohan II. E.g. Wild life/Creeps in Warcraft III grant experience and gold. You have items in Warcraft III but only Heroes can equip them. Battle Realms had you train peasants to transform into more powerful classes. It's still somewhat micromanagement intensive even in Warcraft III and Battle Realms but much more streamlined so you can get into the meat of the game, combat!

Still you're right, the unique creatures and the fantasy-science fiction mix and the fact that you had campaign choices to pick in War Wind 2 which led to different missions really helped create a much more interactive 'living' world.
As I remember the enemy didnt build up bases or recruite new armies?
So you can play how you like without being overrun early in the missions.
And you can rename your elitetroopers and you can take a limited amount of them to the next mission. ;)

Yup, agree totally!
And I suck. I mean, my fondest memories bring up a mix of an intriguing rts + an intelligent brawler of some sort ;P

The questions i have i can't seem to find the answer to,

For WW2,
Is there a skirmish? I don't wanna be stuck with the campaigns only.
Also i remember an editor, Can i create and make maps to play on?

If yes to both I'll buy it.
