Greetings. The game loads, with load bar and interesting tips/info. Then what I assume is the initial game screen, showing a dungeon heart pulsing, game version top left corner, as well as the pointer hand. But there is no menus. No start game, load game, campaign, options or anything. Just a view of the dungeon heart slightly right of center, a chest of gold, and two doorways. I can click everywhere but nothing happens.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Verlander,

This sounds like a case of incompatibility happening between your PC and the UI Middleware that WFTO uses. Here are a few workarounds you can try to resolve the issue.

We're currently working with the developers of the UI Middleware to transition over to a newer, hopefully, more stable version of this middleware that should resolve these issues for those affected. In the meantime, the linked workarounds usually solve the issue for 99% of users.

Any chance that the new 2.0 patch will address this? I'm attempting to run the game under Ubuntu 17.10, so forcing DirectX rendering isn't an option, and forcing the game to use my discrete video didn't make any difference.

Edit: SOLVED!! It was just a driver problem. Game runs perfectly now!

Glad to hear you managed to solve the issue. I can say we're transitioning to a new version of the UI Middleware we use which should hopefully resolve this issue on a permanent basis. But as we've never experienced it internally we've not yet been able to test it.

Fingerrs crossed though!

Thought I'd follow up on this by checking to see if the new update fixed the issue. I can confirm that it has. Menus are now displaying properly when I am using my Intel GPU, so I'm no longer required to switch to my Nvidia GPU to play the game.
In my case the menus will sometimes pop up if I click the mouse a few times. When that doesn't work I can simply restart the game and try again. Eventually I'm able to see the menus, and once they appear I have no further problems.

This began happening immediately after upgrading from Ubuntu 16.04 to 18.04. An NVidia driver update occurred along with this, and for all I know that was what triggered the new behavior.
After installing the 2.0 update, the menus always appear.
