Assuming you don't have a Win7 machine sitting around, have you tried running in compatibility mode for Win7 or Win8?

I don't remember if the installer was bundled with a Nvidia PhysX installer, but I know I had to manually install PhysX before the game would start — went off without a hitch after that, but I installed via Wine to a 2013 Macbook running Linux Mint, so I don't have a direct comparison. Obviously your hardware's more than sufficient.

Anyway, as was mentioned in the PhysX Error thread, if it's a PhysX error you may need to manually copy over the physx dll into Venetica\bin\release.

Thank you - will give it a try !
It's not a W10 64 bit issue. I bought and downloaded it, installed, and played with zero issue. Sorry your having problems. This is a game you want to play, so its worth putting effort into it if you have too. Should post and update what you did to get it to run when you do.
I am encountering the same issue now since yesterday. Originally it started all fine but now it will just freeze after starting the game. I get the mouse to see and then the screen starts flickering and that's it - freeze to death.

I am playing on Windows 7 64 Bit, Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K 3,4 GHz, 16 GB RAM
I had the same issue on Win7: when I clicked Play, the button went inactive for 15-20 seconds but nothing happened. I found the shortcut in GOG's folder and run it as administrator - it started perfectly fine. But running from GOG Galaxy still doesn't work :(

I was able to get it to run through GOG Galaxy on Windows 11 by changing the compatibility mode of venetica.exe to "Run this program as an administrator".
I´ve tried everything, installed PhysX, copied ddl files into the bin folder, started it in the administrator mode...still nothing :(
my game walked well, but suddenly it won't launch
windows 10

I don't know why, but putting the shortcut on the desktop solved this issue

I've got Windows 10 and the game would not work/start for me. The following steps got it running. My card is a Nvidia GT 1030.

Downloaded NVIDIA PhysX Legacy System Software 9.12.1031 and extracted Physxloader.dll into Venetica\bin\release folder. The game would then show the splash screens and then a black screen and then back to the desktop.

Then tried various steps such as fully installing the NVIDIA PhysX Legacy System Software 9.12.1031, running as administrator and GOG's Verify/Repair. No improvement.

Removed the NVIDIA PhysX Legacy System Software and installed the current NVIDIA PhysX System Software. This worked and the game menu appeared and I was able to play.
I've tried putting the contents of the Physx System software in the bin folder, nothing. I've tried running as administrator, nothing.
I'm running on windows 11, is there a set fix for this yet?
Windows 10 64bit here, installing "NVIDIA PhysX" from this steam user link worked:
http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.14.0702-driver.html
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/physx/9_14_0702/physx-9-14-0702-driver/

When i played and completed the game a couple of years ago ( i'm using window 10 ), i had the same problem at first, it was fixed for me by installing this version of Physx :
PhysX-9.16.0318-SystemSoftware.exe

It can be found here :

How do you install an older physX driver? I just get a "newer version exists" message and it won't install
