I use a Speedlink Troid Game-Pad.

When I put the controller into DirectInput-mode (Xbox360 Controller) I can navigate the main menu but can only use buttons in game.

I can't turn the camera and can't walk.

When put into XInput-mode the controller isn't even recognized as a gamepad by the game.
I had to plug the controller in before launching the game then switch the input to gamepad. (I did that twice, so maybe it just needs to be told twice to switch to gamepad)
nope, still not working.

I can plug it in before I launch the game - still cant move the character, I can even unplug and replug it mid game dosn't make a difference.

The controller is working fine other games that I tested.

//EDIT

And I checked that I set "Xbox 360 controller" in the input options.

If anyone else comes to this thread because the sticks aren't working on an Xbox controller (360) - possibly as part of the GOG giveaway, here's my findings.

For whatever reason, my xbox controller (the only controller plugged in) had been given ID2 rather than 1 (the green light was in the 12-oclock-to-3-oclock position. The controller worked for everything except the sticks. Windows had no problem with the controller, or other games.

I quit the game (well, repeatedly until I figured out what was wrong), unplugged the controller, waited a few seconds, then re-plugged it in. I think I used the same USB, but you might want to use a different one.

This time the controller identified as ID1 (9-oclock-to-12-oclock green light) and magically the sticks were working.

Tutorial button prompts still appear as 1/4 and 1/2 though.

I just posted a question about this, glad its not just me. I did quickly figure out that ½ is the A button and ¼ is the B button, but I can't figure out why its displaying that text instead of the button icons.
