I quickly fell in love with Neocore's wonderful Van Helsing games after playing them. Van Helsing Final Cut should have been the definitive edition of the series, the only thing a player would need to get the full experience. Instead, the game was more of a Frankenstein's monster, with badly-stitched seams and lots of body parts left on the cutting room floor. The "Van Helsing Enhanced" mod did a fantastic job getting skills, loot, and monsters into shape. I intend to pick up where that mod left off, respecting all the balance changes while working mainly on other areas of the game.

Project Prometheus was originally meant to be a simple text correction mod, but it has expanded in scope to restore cut content and address the lingering bugs and balance issues of Final Cut. The goal is to make the game as polished, rewarding, and "complete" as it can possibly be. Prometheus is meant to be friendly to both first-time players and grizzled veterans alike.

Prometheus now includes Van Helsing Enhanced 9.2 in its entirety - no need for separate download!

Summary of Major Changes
====================
- Game-wide text corrections - no more typos or instances of the subtitles not matching the audio.
- Pocket Realm and Riddlerwisp encounter restored.
- 15 new sets will now drop - 2 for each class, plus 3 all-class sets.
- 4 new adventure mode maps and 6 new adventure mode bosses.
- Restored 7 cut quests, including the Maze of Blades tower defense from VH2 and one never-before-seen quest from VH1.
- Restored over 25 banters and dialogues throughout the campaign.
- Dozens of unused item designs from VH1-3 are now added to the game.
- Missing NPCs restored to the Lair: Vasily Mechanov, The Recordkeeper.
- Missing quest rewards restored (Grandma's Ring, Saffi's Amulet).
- Useless quest rewards from VH1 are now usable items.
- Rebalance and bugfixing for Tower Defense and Resistance missions.
- Chimera enhancements: gains more XP, better magic find, can find 35 more potion types.
- Epic Trophies more useful on the Trophy Stand, and Magic/Rare Trophies more useful when equipped.
- Rebalance of unique essences to bring them in line with the balance of VHE. There are also recipes for three more essences.
- Journal entries and item descriptions fleshed out.
- Various fixes for vanilla bugs and bugs accidentally introduced by Van Helsing Enhanced.
- Quest Fixes by author Fissilecore is integrated into the mod.

Easy Install
====================
Just unzip the file, then copy the six folders from 'Prometheus + Enhanced' (Cfg, Models, Sounds, Strings, Terrains, UI) into your game's install folder. You should get overwrite warnings for several folders and files if you install it correctly. To uninstall use GOG Galaxy or Steam to verify/redownload the vanilla files.

Mod Enabler Install (Recommended)

====================
You can use a tool like the Generic Mod Enabler (GME) to easily enable/disable the mod.
- Download the GME here: https://www.softpedia.com/get/Others/Miscellaneous/Generic-Mod-Enabler.shtml
- Install the GME to your Van Helsing install folder. It will create a folder there called MODS.
- Unzip the file and copy the folder named 'Prometheus + Enhanced' into the MODS folder.
- Run the Mod Enabler, select 'Prometheus + Enhanced' and click 'Enable'.
- To uninstall and restore vanilla files, just click 'Disable'.
- You can install the optional Super Trophies in the same way. Overwrite warnings are to be expected.

Ok to Use Existing Characters?
====================
Yes! If you've got an existing character you want to load into Prometheus, it should be fine, but take note of the following:
- Essence stat changes will NOT affect essences you already have in your inventory. And if you pick up newly-dropped essences with Prometheus, they will stack with your old ones and take on the OLD stats. Therefore you may want to sell your old lesser essences or keep them in the stash to use for the Chimera or Pigasus.
- You may lose some trophies on the trophy display, since 7 trophies have been replaced with others. I've included these trophies in a separate download so you can replace them.
- Some of your old set items may have some extra bonuses after you install Prometheus.
- If you're upgrading from pure vanilla (and not one of the older versions of Van Helsing Enhanced), some skills and items will have been changed and rebalanced, so your character may be more or less powerful than before.

Stuff I wanted to fix but could not:
====================
- Restore ability to summon Chimera into battle. I can get it partially working but it crashes the game and there's no interface functionality.
- Restore some more cut journal entries from VH2 (which features entries for Vlados, Prisoner 7, and a Bestiary): Nothing is available in the cfg files to add them; the triggers must be hardcoded.
- A large number of journal entries under the "World", "Prometheus", and "Game" tabs are supposed to have unique pictures, but instead the generic placeholder picture is used.
- The "newspaper" loading screen for the Invasion of the Rat People map doesn't trigger. Also unable to add custom loading screens for new Adventure maps.

New version has just been uploaded! All links updated.

v1.1 fixes the Twigbeast boss not spawning, restores all the unused special potions, and some other minor changes.

Note that this release also overhauls the Trophy Stand selection, so you may have some missing entries, since most Trophies on the stand are now found in Story Mode instead of as random high level drops. I've uploaded a character savegame on the Nexus that you can load to grab any story mode trophies you might be missing now. Just put the trophies in your stash, and any character that picks up the trophy will unlock it on the stand.
Oh, I thought it was to restaure the game in its past good version, before Final Cut (final destruction).

I did what I could, so much is hard-coded. Some things like restoring maps and NPC's were very easy, but others like restoring quests, and especially mechanics like the skill trees and runecrafting, were impossible.

Prometheus is closer to the original trilogy, but only in increments.
New version has just been uploaded! All links updated.

1.2 focuses on Adventure mode: new maps, bosses, consumables, as well as lots of fixes and improvement to the endgame gear: Sets and Godlike items.
Prometheus 1.3 has been released! All links and info updated.

While there is a very small amount of content changes, the main point of this release was to bundle together Van Helsing Enhanced 9.2 with Prometheus to make an "All in One" package. You no longer need to download or install Van Helsing Enhanced separately.

Thank you - am looking forward to giving it a go. Just have to finish Dishonored first! :)
Prometheus Enhanced 1.4 is here with a massive update!

Highlights from this release:
- Added 8 translations to the mod so all languages are now supported. I will accept fan corrections for any of the localizations.
- Restored 7 cut quests, including the Maze of Blades tower defense from VH2 and one never-before-seen quest from VH1.
- Restored over 25 banters and dialogues throughout the campaign, some that were inexplicably removed in Final Cut and others that have been bugged since the original trilogy.
- Arena Overhaul: Now in the "sweet spot" between the balance of vanilla and VHE. There is now a much larger monster selection than previous releases, and you can reasonably expect to be able to survive 25 rounds in whatever difficulty level your character uses in adventure maps.
- Dozens of unused item designs from VH1-3 are now added to the game. You will see the VHE weapons and gear are no longer clones of other Epics but now have unique designs, plus many Epic and Set items from the original trilogy now have their original appearances when possible. You'll also see some brand new Epics as random loot and story mode drops.
- All Trophy stand trophies are now story-mode exclusive drops, with some new randomly dropping Epics available at high levels to take their place in adventure mode.
- Several set items that had level 1 bonuses got corrected to level 100 and are therefore buffed.
- Did a minor balance pass on skills, to fix some that were overly weak, had too-steep mana costs, or were not functioning as expected.
- "Quest Fixes" mod by FissileCore is now fully integrated, just by virtue of Prometheus touching so many cfg files, I've now covered all the same bases. Also his fix for "Retake the Ornithopter Tower" in Ch. 6 is now properly implemented in Prometheus.
