Whereaminow25: So now we are back to a 50/50 of getting it on gog? Grim Dawn, Van Helsing. I am suprised these will actually be drm, and not require Galaxy like Age of Wonders 3 does.

Gurlok: Wait, what? AOW3 REQUIRES galaxy in order to work?
If you want to play multiplayer. No Lan, No crap. Login or Click Single player only. I found that quite sad. I enjoyed playing #1 lan a lot. Was hoping for number 3 to be like that but nope. I consider that a rip off from the company that made the game.

jdmatson: Crate Entertainment just recently said that GOG is getting Grim Dawn late because GOG kept making unreasonable demands, causing the negotiations to take a while. I suspect that it's the same scenario with VH:FC, but Neocore is trying to be professional by not talking about the deals and potentially bad-mouthing their business partner.
Well based on the Grim Dawn thread it seems that the "unreasonable demands" from GoG was to keep the GoG version at the same level of updates and features than the Steam version.

Personally I hope that GoG will keep making those thing of unreasonable demands.

Actually no it doesn't require Galaxy to play multiplayer (I play 2-3 times a week online on a partition on which Galaxy never was installed).

On the other side it does require a Triumph account and you to connect online even if you want to play via LAN/VPN.

Apparently (at least it's Triumph justification), the LAN support was added later and it was too complicated for them to create a version of the game that didn't require to log online for multiplayer.

I see thanks to the both of you for replying my question. That's kinda sad to hear though. I don't mind playing lan (to me is still the best multiplayer mode ever made). I actually fear that neocore will follow the same method (I don't know how it's handled on steam though).
Still nothing? (had been hoping to start playing the game as it was top of my to play list and didnt want to start new game only to find saves arent compatible with final cut version...)

Grim Dawn apparently has tons of custom DRM triggers tied to Steam, if they tried to move those to Galaxy and got refused... seeing how someone at crate is huge fan of DRM, it wouldn't surprise me if 'unreasonable demands' were demanding actual DRM-free build. Needless to say I'd be the first to start fireworks if they tried to let that in.

Ofc we can't know but I wouldn't trust those devs blindly all things considering.

Either way, this Van Helsing crap is seriously annoying, the only reason I bought 3rd one was FC, wish this stupid Galaxy crap was never made, it seems to have nothing but negative impact.

Yeah, I read about it on steam, still, crate said that there will be the drm free version on gog (although I didn't particularly like the tone used). I just hope it will be a full drm free with no additional requirements.
But back on topic, i wonder if the game will be released at least during this month.

Like I said earlier in this thread, it's Neocore we are talking about, Val Helsing is no the first game where they pull this kind of "crap". I doubt Galaxy has a lot do with it; I strongly suspect that supporting/releasing the Steam and Xbox One version as a lot more importance for them than caring about the GoG version.
More frustration. I reached out to GOG via tech support just to see if they had any update. That was a week ago, not even a response.

No responses from Neocore in weeks, no response from GOG in one week. This is extremely disappointing.
I'm just getting pissed now that they don't respond to me. I asked for a Steam Key like they said they'd offer in the mean time and STILL don't have one. It's been two weeks since my initial inquiry.
No Steam-Key
No answer
frustrating
Have to wonder whether we would have these issues if there was no Galaxy requirement for the devs?

All three "episodes" of Val Helsing already used Galaxy for achievements, online-play and leader boards, so it's not like there is that many new "requirement" for the Final Cuts, and apparently it didn't caused them too many issues at the time.

Can I ask you if it does have any kind of lan play that works without the galaxy client? I never bought any of the chapters since I'd like to buy directly the final cut.

I would have to check to be 100% sure but if I remember correctly the game doesn't have any LAN option or anything like that; it only has a "multiplayer" option that use Galaxy (or Steam if you are using the Steam version)
