wesp5: Yes, but it's the basic version of the patch. You can install 9.5 plus or 9.4 plus right over it and some things will change.
By the way, I always notice the bellow messages in the console. Is it important or they can be ignored (running the game on Linux in Wine)?

They can be ignored unless a real error occurs, then they might help with the diagnosis. The ones you copied were probably intended to upgrade the history and discipline system for expansions that never came out...

I can't seem to have Skins from Planet Vampire install right for the GOG version of VTM.

What's the proper install path and method for installing new textures for the GOG version?
For a first time playthrough, is there a difference between the basic UP patch GOG already includes with the game and the "True Patch Gold"?

Yes, the basic UP included in the GOG version is much better and more up-to-date...

Well then, i guess i should thank you for the work you do to fix it up and make this game playable. I've heard a lot of good things about it and i'm looking forward to playing through it for the first time.

I usually like my first run through a game to be more on the "pure" side. So just bug fixes. Which is why it always bothers me when good bug fix mods sometimes don't release separately without any other additions & combat/balance changes. So i'm glad the basic UP mod is already including so i won't have to do anything for the first playthrough.

Bethezer: And as wesp5 said - it's mostly bug fixes, so it's pure gold in my opinion. I can understand, that some people don't want fan restored stuff, but the 'bare' patch is literally a must here
And I am very grateful for those bugfixes!

It is good to hear that the GOG version only includes bugfixes, some patches for Bloodlines I have encountered over time were... just too much. It is great when people add new content, but this should be stand-alone and not part of a bug fixing patch. I don't remember exactly which patch this was, but I remember a time when I could get Bloodlines only running with one particular patch, which unfortunately did not only contain bugfixes, but also changed a lot of stuff the author apparently thought would make the game better.

He did, for instance, remove anything he seemed to percieve as "indecent", like the offer of one NPC to pay with sex for a particular quest... highly annoying. :D

AngryAlien:
Totaly understand that. Unless for specific games, I tend to avoid modding. The only exception is for patching/fixing, and on some occassions - getting stuff back into the game (KOTOR 2 for example), but usually I'm quite reluctant to add something entirely new. Unless... but still. ;)

Hm, this can't have been my patch then. As with KOTOR or other restoration projects, I try to restore as much lost content as possible, but nothing new that wasn't somehow found or hinted at in the game resources. And all of it is only available in the plus version of the full patch which you need to download from The Patches Scrolls...
there are a lot of different mods lol. which one adds more of those poster quest's? and do i have to start a fresh game to get the new quest ect?

As far as I know only the plus version of the Unofficial Patch adds more poster quests. And you always need to start a new game when updating the patch or adding a new mod.

thanks!!. i guess i'll finish this playthrough first and then add the mod. i also assume you can't install Wesp mod and Antitribu mod?

Yes, but you can run them in parrallel as each will go into a subfolder and the ATM includes an older basic patch anyway.

i don't understand this part "but you can run them in parrallel as each will go into a subfolder and the ATM includes an older basic patch"

All major Bloodlines mods can be run parrallel like with HL2 and other Source engine games as they each install into a subfolder of the main game and can be selected by starting them from seperate shortcuts. So with the UP and the ATM if you install both on one PC you will get two new shortcuts: one to start with the UP active, one with the ATM active,,,
