I have installed the 9.8 plus version over the GOG package, (aka 9.7 BASIC) and started a new game.
Considering that eventualy GOG will update its version to 9.8 BASIC, my question is: Are BASIC and PLUS versions of the patch mutually compatible?

No, not concerning the saved games. So you better switch auto-updating off until you are finished...
